Will Thursfield - 2008 Official Thread

25th page to find Willy T.

Watching the reply again he's got a decent foot him on him. Few 40+ nails in the last, one to White on 45-50 was a beaut.

Interrupted season and a few restless natives.

What's the expectation until the end of the season?

Moore's gone past him, but that's not a criticism of Thursty...Moore's on one of them bullet trains, he's bolting past every bugger. Gave Brown a very good contest did Moore, certainly broke even, if not beat him.

And that can mean only good things for Will. He doesn't have the pressure of minding the main target. And he does have fairly immaculate disposal, knows his limitations, will kick if required, but often looks for a McMahon, which is fair enough. He's always been able to run off his opponent well, I reckon.

If he and Moore continue in this fashion, they'll stop far more than they'll let through. McGuane still worries me, don't think he's the equal of Will both defensively and offensively, and that's the standard McGuane needs to reach. But in the other two, we've got a good tall defensive setup. Punt McGuane and put Schulz down there full time and it could look even better.

I did forget, thanks for that. I don't reckon Rance will play this year, but wouldn't surprise me if he was rubbing shoulders with Moore and Thursfield Round 1 next year.

Now that's just a little bit exciting.

We've got flexibility & some real nugget in defence with Moore, Luke, Jay & Thursty there atm.
If we can ad Rance to the mix things are looking better defensively.
Good stuff.

Has Thursty gone backwards, or has Moore's burst onto the scene taken the focus off Will who continues to do the same good job as he did last year ? I don't think Will has had a bad season but most of the drooling is about the Kelvinator.

Exactly why leysy is a long time advocate of us not using an early pick on a key defender this year.

I think Thursty has been pretty ordinary since coming back from injury. Prepared to cut him some slack, but his recent performances have been below his best.

The panel set him a task Hopper, 6 weeks without playing a game's a big break today to come straight in.

Not many do it & produce at or near there best.

Thursty looked a bit freer in his action and a bit rusty. I reckon that break will have done him good. Did a good job filling the hole in the second half too.

Finding his feet again I reckon. Will be massively helped by the emergence of Moore. The two of them will hopefully be the Ayres/Langford combination we need.
