Will Thursfield - Mr Reliable

Isn't it great to see a Richmond FB who can confidently negate his opponent, attack the ball, and dispose of it effectively.

Not since Dicky Clay.

I can't remember which leper Will got yesterday but it was his day off. McPharlin and Pavlich got McGuane and Moore. Glad to see Wallet giving Thursfield a lesser task for a change. Excellent work.

So when you get a day off you have to work on your skills and running off. And that's why our boy got into space quite a bit. As instructed and what with us monstering their midfield and all.

And he looked a bit scratchy. Needed the run. I won't be surprised if he gets a day off again next week and I'll be very interested to see how he goes.

One of my faves at Tigerland.

Very much like Fletcher.Great endurance & closing speed with good skills to boot!! ;)

He is an absolute gun...remember writing a thread on him last season that he was on the way to greatness.
A superb player...has great skill and nous. The kid will be an All Australian in no time.

Well done Will :clap

Interesting to note that he does not look like he has lost any closing speed since his knee injury.I certainly believed that this would be an issue. Perhaps we should look to our surgeons in this case and give them a pat on the back as opposed to constant bagging when injuries dont heal as well as expected. :) Interested to hear everyones thoughts on this.

Yep. And if you want to be really demanding, you could also say he needs to run off a bit more and take a few marks a la Scarlett at Geelong - one of the best full backs Ive ever seen.

But I'm pretty happy with the way he's going ! Go Wilbur !

He is starting to do that just a little bit more. Doesn't push out over half back but is happy to floa t up to the 50.

As for his kicking it is pretty good, although the %94 flatters him a bit becuase he does tend to go the safer option more often then not. Needs to get more creative with the ball in his hands as I have no doubt that if he had a more attacking mindset with the ball he could be very damaging. Same thing was said about Chris Newman and he has changed that.
