It has been reported to rhettrospective.com, courtesy of Richmond historian Bill Meaklim- that 1943 Premiership player 'Polly Perkins' has passed away. He was 89.
Perkins was the last surviving member of the 1943 Premiership side. He played 148 games between 1940-1949, and of note, never kicked a goal.
He also was a member of the 3AW Broadcast Team for nearly three decade.

Rest in Peace my dear friend.

Rhett Bartlett.

Heard the name for many years on radio - "Let's go around the grounds...Polly Perkins at the MCG..." - without realising he was an ex-Tiger.

So sad, our club has lost a true champion.

Hope the club and the team recognize Polly's wonderful career at Tigerland this Friday.

Good on you Polly.

And the name goes on - there's a couple of Perkins down my way who have always been known as Polly. And not too many people know why!
