With home games against CARL, BRIS, ESS to come...that's the 12 wins we need

I have us down for 11 to 13 wins. with our percentage we would be a toss up to make it with 12.

I have us down for 8 wins.
Last time I looked that doesn't guarantee you anything, even high draft picks.

Strugs is right, we'll know what's going on after 22 rounds.

The cliches have never been more appropriate:
ONE WEEK AT A TIME & LET'S NOT GET AHEAD OF OURSELVES.

Hawthorn was only 3 games ago. Long way to go yet..

YES, and next week is a HUGE assignment.

Our 500th VFL/AFL game at the MCG against the form side in the competition.

How tough will that be?

How many people will be at the G?

FOCUS, FOCUS, FOCUS

I love the fact that you can actually go to any game now(other then Crows at aami)an feel like you can win it.
What im lookin forward to the most as we continue to improve is the "cant loose games" ,ala Hawks,Gee it be great to go too the footy an know you aint going too loose today ;D You old timers must have loved it ;D

Its all up to the Tigers now.  It appears that 12 wins might just be enough to claim that 8th spot.  If the Tigers can win 4 out of the final 8, then it means Fremantle have to win 5 (and a higher percentage), Geelong and Port Adelaide 6 out of last 8.  Port Adelaide have a tough draw and think their chances are now gone.  Fremantle are just not a consistent side and also have a relatively tough draw.  The biggest threat will be Geelong who have a strong percentage and a relatively easy run home, but need to win 2 more than the Tiges in the last 8 matches.  Geelong play Port next week, a Port win probably would make it very tough for Geelong too.

Tigers play Melb (MCG), Swans (SCG), Saints (MCG), Bulldogs (MCG), Brisbane (TD), Carlton (TD), Essendon (MCG), Eagles (MCG)
Geelong play Port (Home), Bulldogs (TD), North (Manuka), Brisbane(Gabba), St Kilda (TD), Swans (Home), Melbourne (Home), Hawthorn (TD)

I'm not getting ahead of myself, although I'm still pretty chuffed about last night. BUT if we keep improving and gaining confidence, it is conceivable that we could flog a couple of sides and possibly overtake Geel and Freo on percentage. Freo is likely, but geel would have to cop 1 or 2 floggings. We are in with a ral show of making the finals. Its exciting

They need to overtake us.  We're a game ahead of Freo and 2 ahead of Geelong. If we keep winning the ball's in our court.

Geez finals talk, hasn't being a richmond supporter taught you anything? I've learnt never to expect us to make finals even when we look a good chance, never to be too sure we'll win the games we should and never to mouth off too much because it'll most likely come back to bite you on the rear end :-\ The boys are doing well but I wouldn't get carried away just yet

I was just talking about the percentage side, in case we end up even on wins. Everyone is taking it for granted we'll end up with the lowes percentage so we'll need an extra win, it ain't necessarily so is all that I'm saying. I'm confident we''ll at least overtake freos percentage, they are only 2.5 or 6 or 7 goals ahead.

Tiger goddess, I hear ya, just mere speculation.

Agreed the seventies were great (but enough of the old-timers tag thanks ;D), so were the start of the eighties, but since then winning the winnable games has alluded the Tigers.  We'll be finalists only if we win the games we are meant to win to be in the eight - or better still - the top four in 2007/8!  Not planning anything for this September just yet ;) Still expect a fumble from our young but improving side - without recriminations!

People are jsut laying out the requirements to make it, not counting the chickens. Tigers need to pick up a couple of wins in next 4, losing all of them will affect confidence leading into the matches against the weaker teams. Still, have to be more enthused about our chances now more than ever before. Alot has changed in the last couple of years. Have broken so many hoodoos this year. I agree, though, getting carried away would br fraught with danger :o

the simple maths are there are 8 games left and we need to win 4 to make it. with our draw we should do it, but this is richmond we're talking about. i won't be happy until round 22 is completed and we are in the 8.

i'd hate to say this but we want collingwood to beat the saints this week. would be handy for sydney to lose to the crows as well (the play the eagles in perth next week... tough run before they have to face us)

Agree Ian 4....pretty tough examination coming up the next few weeks, but hey! What better way to learn tghe caper than having to play week by week for a finals berth...and,if they should fail?it should be used as a learning tool,to be studied and learnt from....and hopefully the supporters can be a little more wise to the fact,,understanding that the process is in place.........and back em in all the way,regardless....
The fact that we bounced back from public floggings TWICE this year is a testament alone to to teams character........KEEP ON SWINGIN OUT HARD TIGERS! ;D

I'm sorry but I can't buy into this "THIS IS RICHMOND WE ARE TALKING ABOUT" crap.
That is the PAST...this team is all about the FUTURE.
We know longer play DUMB.
We now play SMART.
How can you not be excited about finals right now...knowing you have the team that will be far too good for Essendon, Carlton and Brisbane at home.
The only game that isn't 50/50 to come in my opinion is next week against Melbourne...they are a terrific side playing better football than any team currently.
Can't you all see that the majority of this team has nothing to do with the DOPEY MENTALITY the Tigers were reknowned for under Frawley, Gieschen and co.
This is the best list of players we have had in 20 years under an astute coaching regime...and WE ARE SEPTEMBER BOUND...guaranteed :clap

3 weeks ago against Hawthorn ring any bells for you? Sure we're improving and we're moving towards the future but you only have to look at the game to see what happens when we get ahead of ourselves. We have a young team and they're bound to cough up games we probably shouldn't, it's all part of being inexperienced and learning. We may make the finals, we may not but I wouldn't have it down as a certainty ::)

good positive post RainsyBaby, but having suffered through the agony of the past 24 years, and having never seen a successful richmond team in my lifetime, forgive me if i don't hold your optimism just yet.
