Worst Game of Football I've Ever Seen

If we were playing St Kilda or Geelong or even Collingwood or the Bulldogs yesterday, we would have been beaten by a record margin. To think that we fell over the line against the last placed team who was clearly tanking.

What makes you think we weren't tanking?

Perhaps we are better at disguising it?

Perhaps tanking is all a myth so the media can sell more newspapers to the gullible?

Anyone remember the herald sun's ten tanking steps few of them on show on the weekend. Most players don't tank - coaches on the other hand know the price of victory.

I am so glad this thread exists because I had the same feelings as many posters re: the game result.

As for the game itself, just incredulous at the display we put on. I think that we have really showed in our two games against Melbourne this year where we are at as a club. Wallace/Rawlings the difference on the field is what precisely. Oh that's right Wallace lost a tight one against a Melbourne trying to win, Rawlings won after the siren against a coach trying to tank. Vive la difference

This tanking stuff is vile.

Do you really believe this nonsense that players don't tank, it is only coaches and officials who are getting their hands dirty?

So tell me, take the case of a player like Daniel Kerr. He has climbed the to the top of the mountain and no doubt played with ridiculous injuries during those years. I'll bet there were games when he couldn't walk for most of the week but they would jab him up and wheel him out on gameday. Suddenly, he is out for three weeks with a broken fingernail, comes back only to last five minutes before breaking it again and sits on the bench for the rest of the game.

Surely, when it is his turn to back into a pack he won't be taking it too seriously? Why should he be fagged under those circumstances? He would need to be seriously stupid to be making much effort at all.

AFL has a real integrity problem here. They are putting players out on the park who aren't really serious.

We have just handed Melbourne the equivalent of 2 Cotchins for the next 10 years,

i thought cotch was special. you mean there are at least 3 of him every year??

I firmly believe players dont TANK. Players try to WIN.

Just look at the reactions of the Tiger players and the dissapointment of the Melbourne.

Now coaches that is a different senario. They can make moves on the ground which to the supporter and commentators appears that are tanking and not really trying to win. They disguise it with "we are just trying blokes in other positions">

It has to be one of the worst games i have witnessed . Thats 2 games this year against the Dees that the standed was treadful. The skill on display from AFL footballers was a Benny Hill affair. Were we that bad or did the Dees drag us done to their level? I just dont know. The last few weeks we have played some good football and our skills were not too bad.

If Demetriou doesnt believe TANKING exists then really he has blinkers on because it is damaging our brand as the perception amongst supporters , commentators and journalists says that IT DOES HAPPEN AND WILL CONTINUE.

When supporters are happy their team has lost to gain picks is a DISGRACE.

Players try to win but coaches manipulate the system and good on them.

West Coast TANKED last week but as the spotlight was on them from last week they won this week.

Who do Melbourne play next week? The Roos

Who do West coast play ? The Dogs.

TANKING DOES EXIST DEMETRIOU. FIX IT

I heard Fatprick Smith on SEN this morning mentioning that he questioned Communist Leader Adolf Dimwitriou on his belief of teams tanking and he still remained adamant that it doesn't happen.

They still can't draw up proper fixtures considering the finals farce with the Pies v Bulldogs game on Sunday night and will refuse to change the dates. Why not make it 2 Friday night matches considering we play WC at Subi?

I think we need a revolution.
