Worst opposition player in our club colors

Blumfield made me sick - he was pathetic and hardly ever tried - made me ANGRY and REALLY sick.

Samson from Adelaide was quite a disapointment - He turned out to be a passenger in a premiership side!

Aaron James was also disapointing because he had the body to be something, but only wanted to go drinking at the Vaucluse.

But for something out of the box or from the past, for someone who we had to give a up alot for - it would have to be John Pitura from South - we gave up a Bronlow medalist, a decent Ruckman - and someone else (I fogot his name) - what a wasteful trade! They took him because when South played against Richmond, Pitura carved up Saint Francis on two occasions.

not happy Jan

Paul Hudson by a country mile for mine - what was it, 3 dud games? Though it probably wasn't his fault so much as just such a dumb drafting choice proven to be dumb. (I wonder if he actually wanted to be drafted, let alone keep playing....... ???) I think Strawbs actually played a couple of good games, but Billy Nicholls is up their with Huddo - just didn't carry any profile.

The "someone else" you were trying to think of was Francis Jackson, who is now our Head of Recruiting.

Terry Wallace would have to go close as far as $$$ vs impact. I think he was on quite a bit of money to come to the Tigers.

yeah but he never saw any of it!

Clay Sampson played more like Delilah. Also the ruck pair of Thornborrow and Marsh, phew.

Todd Breman and Brad Gwilliam

Gwilliam? You are being pretty tough on the bloke, he played about 4 games at full back, never disgraced himself, looked like a potential find. Playing the Crows at footy park, collided with the goal post & wrecked both knees, never to play again.
Just because he didn't play alot of games doesn't necessarily mean he was a dud.

In my opinion, this award should take into consideration what we lost to get the player to the club.

Pitura as raised earlier is a classic example, along with Paul Hudson who effectively saw that we didn't participate in the 2001 super draft. The only player on our list from that draft (not counting Polak) is Hyde who we redrafted after delisting at the end of the 2000 season.

For totally useless tho, how about the 3 players we got for Alan Edwards - Rod Oborne and the Consendine brothers woohoo!

I must have too much time on my hands - feel free to add to this list:

Collingwood - Best to worst:
John Annear - A few good years service before he flew the coop
Neil Peart - Had Paul Sproule given him a go, could have been a very servicable CHB
Clinton King - first year was ok, but couldnt kick
Phillip Walsh - i think this was to make up for them getting Cloke and Raines. Can anyone remember what the collingwood banner said the first time Raines and Cloke lined up against us?? - i do, it hurt like hell!! "Richmond's Luck! Caught in the Woods without a Cloke and it Raines"!! - i hate'em!
Tim powell - one or 2 servicable games

Check out the rest of these guys tho:
Terry Keays - Big buns, big hopes big deal.
Rod Oborne - part of the Alan Edwards deal (BIG DEAL)
2 x Consendine (can't remember their first names - i think one was Craig) - also part of the Edwards deal.
Gerald Betts
Ross Brewer
Bob Heard
Tim Powell
Noel Lovell - Gawd
Wally Lovett - Oh Gawd
Chris Domberg - please stop
John Mrakov - oh no, i can't take this
Craig Stewart - please, please, no more
Peter McCormack - ARRRGGGHHH
The Pies really saw us coming!!

Brisbane - Best to Worst:
Rory Hilton - didn't mind his straight ahead approach but could have been more accountable
Shane Morrison - Hmmm
Luke Weller - Hmmmm

Carlton Best to Worst:
Chris Bond - Won a Best and Fairest
David Honeybun - held up our ruck dept when we had nothing else
Ben Harrison - limited service
Denis Collins - some reasonable games on the wing in 1980, best game v the Swans, didn't make premiership team, might have had a hammy from memory!
Tim Fleming - limited service
Greame Robertson - lived in Niel Balme's shadow, which grew bigger and bigger, literally - turned into an eclipse!
Simon Fletcher - Hmmmmm
Tim Livingstone - Hmmmmm

Geelong - Best to Worst:
Greame Landy - Missed a GF b/c suspension Half back line Landy - Jess - Keane -i always felt good about that!
Paul Sarah - limited service 1980
Andy Preston - limited service
Mark Neeld - hmmmmm
Craig Biddiscombe - hmmmmm
Richard Murrie - hmmmm
Adam Houlihan - hmmmmmm

Doggies - Best to worst:
Nathan Brown - No Comment required, best to come i hope.
Justin Charles - Pity about the hip
Leon Cameron - Personally i wouldn't have traded a draft pick for him, tho he gave good service.
Patrick Bowden - Hopefully more to come
Michael McKenna - couldn't kick 20 yards, but could get it.
Chris Burton - champion first halves, unsighted in the second halves

Stkilda - Best to Worst:
Ian Stewart - had to go bac for him! Brownlow
Mick Malthouse - great pick up, tough centreman, converted to BP for us. Liked punching up resting rovers.
Ian Sartori - limited service, probably not too bad a player tho.
Trent Knobel - ???? worrid about a tap ruckman taking a spot on the list when he plays 4 games a year.
Michael Roberts - done and dusted before getting to us
Brad Fox - shouldn't have touched him
Jeff Dunne - best footy gone
Daryl Cowie - why?
Steven Sziller - why?
Doug Cox - what was all the fuss about?

Essendon - Best to Worst:
Alan Noonan - minimal service for us
Mark Eustace - limited service
Michael Thompson - pumped by Roos, goodbye MT
Gary Parkes - almost no service for us
Justin Blumfield - wasn't hard for Sheeds to fool ol' Danny and friends and grab a mid 20's draft pick from us!

Hawthorn - Best to worst:
Barry Rowlings - BF winner, premiership player.
Alan Martello - servicable at FB for a year or 2
Ian Scrimshaw - Good second half to 1980 covering for an injured Barry Rowlings, great ball handling skills, other than that not much else from him.
Mark Graham - Servicable year
Terry Wallace - Cost plenty, didn't work out
Kim Kershaw - Good first round 1980 until the general came back from suspension, seeya Kim!
Billy Nichols - Hmmmmmmmm

Fitzroy:

Paul Broderick - how good were this guy's hands!!
Michael Gale - good service off half back
- the rest of these should have stayed home!
Matthew Dundas - didn't mind the few games he played in 95
Jason Baldwin - dusted before he got to us
John Rombotis - this guy even tried to sue the club - HMMMMMM
James Elliott - big reputation, big waste of time.
Matthew Manfield - looked tall athletic, where's the ball, where's the ball??
Daniel Donati

Sth Aust - Best to Worst:
Kane Johnson - more to come
Stuart Wigney - broken ankle derailed a great start to 95
Clay Sampson - hmmmmm
Ben Marsh - hmmmmmm

WA - Best to Worst:
Troy Simmonds - more to come!
Jeremy Humm - hmmmm
Ashley Blurton - hmmmm
Brad Gwilliam - hmmmmm

Sydney - Best to Worst:

Daren Gaspar - Very good service since 96 despite the opinions of some. Rebound game can find him wanting tho.
Gary Frangalas - Hmmmmmm

Melbourne - Best to Worst:
Scotty Turner - 60m short passes b/t the titties from fullback!!!
John Howat - Wake up Barnsey!!!
Stephen ODwyer - hmmmmm
Steven Jackson - hmmmm
Simon Eisold - hmmmm
Ian Baker - we must like dud ruckmen from melbourne!!

I thought Tim Powell came from Geelong via the Under 19's?

B: Fleming Turner Malthouse
HB: Landy Peart Gale
C: Broderick Stewart Walsh
HF: Hilton Charles Cameron
F: Bond Jackson Powell
R: Honeybun Wallace Rowlings
Int: Annear Burton Livingstone Wigney

I reckon it'd be all over today's team.

yas all missed the boat!I know we,ve had our fair share of duds, but the biggest yellow and black feau pas was johnny Pitura for mine.It cost us dearly cause we gave up the "Whale Roberts and Graham Teasdale" who both went on to give great service to the swannieuglyducklings. And what did we get outta Pitura?Bugger all! ???

This thread is about looks.  Bondy sure looked fine in a Richmond jumper to me. :hearton

Great detailed reply frix.  We haven't really done that well with other club's rejects over the years.

Robbie McGhie, frickenel.

Great list, Frick.

For mine:-

Jamie Elliot

Skinny and slow. What were they on when they picked this bloke? Total dud. And when we punted him we still got a trade from StKilda for him.

:rofl :rofl :rofl

Was a good player until he came to Richmond.
