Now that Wallace has run his race and is a lay-down misere to not be coaching next year, if not next week, has anyone else noticed that the media has changed tack and is talking him up again?

The same journalists who were writing his obituaries and asking if he had lost the players four weeks ago are now spearheading the "Terry isn't that bad a coach and his players love him" campaign.

One shouldn't believe everyhting one reads in the funny papers!

I see what you're saying Top Of The Town, but I reckon that's because in recent weeks we've been competitive and haven't been smashed since Rd 3.
If we lost 2 -3 in a row by 10 goals it would be a different story.
Nice theory though!

PAtrick Smith last week, Rohan Connolly today in "The Age," Mike Sheahan last week.

The articles are all on the JOurnalists board.

Whats all this :hearton from the media for Walla$e this week
Were 1 win and 7 losses and now theyre painting him as being able to coach. What a joke.

Yeah, it got me wondering seeing TW is discussing things with the Board tomorrow night. I'm wondering if he's going to ask them to give him a ONE year extension on his contract. I know I know there are a lot of coaches coming to the end of their current contracts, plus a few assistant coaches looking for a Senior Coach Role.

Call it "gut" feeling, but that's my hunch, he'll base it on the 8 wins from 11 in the last half of last year, the players are starting to respond to his messages, he's been tougher on the players and he's "prepared" to give the kids a go, at least that is what I'd expect him to say to the Board. One thing though, at least he wants to gut it out to the end, he'd want guidance from the Board, with regard to playing as many young players as possible (tank it to get a couple of top 20 draft picks) or keep on going the way he's going, trying to find the right mix that can win games and develop from there. Then if the Tigers start to win a few games here and there, the Board face a interesting decision, do they do a one year extension and hope that next year things will improve considerably, or do they just bite the bullet and say enough is enough, thanks but no thanks.

Sure he could be chopped tomorrow night the media awaits him with open arms, but I think he will go thru to end of the season at the very least, however its the Board's decision and tomorrow night will be very interesting.

Rohan Connolly's 'win for the ages' comment gave me the biggest laugh.

Didn't we beat Port there last season Rohan? They were beaten by the Roos just last week for goodness sakes.

The way he's carrying on is as if we ran the Cats to the wire. :P

Why kick a dog when it’s down? The media was always going to get sick of the sack Wallace campaign if we showed a bit of patience as a club.

Given the performances of the last few weeks I think the best result for the club long term would be Wallace to coach out the year with a young side.

just as an aside there will be no fta or pay coverage of our game in wa this week will have to wait for the replay on one

I'm just fascinated by the media manipulation. First Wallace was a portrayed as a drop kick but that didn't lead to a sacking. Now he is pretty good after all but everyone else is as fault, from President to boot-studder. Maybe that will do the trick. If not, they'll try something else, we are heading into blood season after all.

They're starting to give Mick Malthouse a bit of a slap whereas once he was revered and the media were a bit afraid of his steely glare. Getting ready in case he comes to Richmond and they can really lay the boots into him.

Media got hysterical over Plough thinking they could smell blood in the water and hoping to force a Tigerland implosion.
Unfortunately for them absolutely nothing at all has happened.
Now that Scumwood has got a bit of the staggers due to a dose of key injuries a couple of parasites are testing the water around cranky Mick to see what kind of support he gets from Eddie.
The parasites will get braver and braver if Scumwood continues to stagger and Eddie and the board start to distance their support for Mick.
If Scumwood steals themselves a win and the Kangas lose again they'll start sniffing round Laidleys arse to see if he's in the *smile*.
Bastards just want to be first to announce the corpse.

Spot on.

I predicted this.

As soon as he walks out,the media will have a field day in a u-turn kind of fashion.

once he's not a Tiger, the media will not bag him anymore.

They will then put our new coach under the pump.

Morons.

What hypocrite journos in footy media ................. am abhorred at the suggestion :hihi :hihi

They have their man in Wallet thayve been gunning for him for past 12 months and have now got him dead in the water so they will now turn to a new target.

Look out Micky Malthouse and Dean Laidley.

Watch these two become the prime targets over next few weeks.

It's a sige/pack mentality by the media. The knives were out for TW a few weeks ago and as Richmond haven't sacked him they've decided to move onto someone else for a while ( ie Malthouse).

If, for arguments sake, Collingwood and Richmond start winning and Essendon start losing they'll turn on Knights ( like they did earlier this season).

They are a strange bunch.
