The late news mentioned that Kerr trained lightly, nothing about Wirrpanda (sp?).  Who would the eagles have with them as emergencies?  Graham?

Both Kerr and Wirrapanda will play tomorrow apparently.

Can't get enthused about the big game at all this year.

Another all non-victorian affair that is becoming the norm.
Despite being a national comp this finals series has been a yawn.Next year I'm hopeful the doggies will be in the flag mix & which will create moe interest for me.In 2008 hopefully the tiges will be right up there.

Spot on - its hard to describe the downer here in Melbourne again up till yesterday with the GF parade so far this finals series when some semblance of footy come back to Melbourne. I dont think I can remember ever thinking that at this time of year its all been a bit of a yawn.

Dont get me wrong i respect the national competition but honestly the Melbourne clubs need to really get their act together and be major players in the national competition not just make up the numbers.

when was the last time hall or goodes missed for sydney?

what about the home games they get against the dogs at scg and kangas at canberra?

they are a joke and their supporters proved that, boring as hell

eagles have gone through injuries to big names all year and still finished on top easily, unlucky 1st final and then smashed the bulldogs and should of smashed adelaide

when the eagles win you can all think of me

*yawn*

just another day at the office ;)

The game itself wasn't a yawn. ;)

That's why we should of had a real national comp and not the usurping of the VFL which took place.

The way it should of been done was to create 12-14 licenses and ask for expressions of interest for those licenses. No doubt the wealthier clubs and/or the clubs with the big supporter bases would have snapped up the majority of the licenses.

I would imagine the likes of the Big 4 from Victoria ie Richmond, Carlton, Essendon and Collingwood as certainties.

From WA, WCE and possibly an amalgamation of South and East Fremantle, to create the real Fremantle franchise, or possibly Claremont FC.

From SA, definitely Port Adelaide and the next best option would be what actually happened with the formation of the Adelaide (SA) Crows.

Sydney Swans would be in, courtesy of the South Melbourne move and from QLD possibly a team like Southport.
That would leave 2-4 spots to be made up of the next best options, possibly Geelong, in order to represent that region of Victoria and maybe 1-3 combined teams.

This way would have left the VFl, WAFL, and SANFL in a reasonable state and given us a fairer and truer national comp, one in which teams could play each other twice, with a top 5 finals system and an even balance of wealth and football talent to go round.

Anyway, these are just my thoughts on the matter and I look forward to further comments as to why this could or couldn't have happened.
