yet to be bitten on the bum

The lady MFC board member didn't happen to be Bev, did it?

My son is still a fair way off from being anything in the sporting elite.

And given this Club80 is during school holidays, I'll have to get my lovely wife to come along, and the parents-in-law can look after their lovely grand-children.

By the sounds of it, she'll be doing a lot of looking up, given she's about 5'2''.

5'2", hmm, Tigers need some good rovers. ;)
Will look forward to greeting her.

And another thing PML, why do you have the picture of the nerdy looking guy? :hihi

Oh!
I think PML's avatar looks quite dashing & handsome, in a subtle way.  ;)

Hmmmm? Subtle

1.
a. So slight as to be difficult to detect or describe; elusive: a subtle smile.
b. Difficult to understand; abstruse: an argument whose subtle point was lost on her opponent.

2. Able to make fine distinctions: a subtle mind.

3.
a. Characterized by skill or ingenuity; clever.
b. Crafty or sly; devious.
c. Operating in a hidden, usually injurious way; insidious: a subtle poison.

I wonder...

maybe 3 (c)

???

Name your poison. ;)

After the last Club80, my poison would have to be white wine. :P
I also noticed Phanto, with your better half there, you were taking it very easy. ;)
And after reading this thread, my wife demands that I change her height from 5'2'' to 5'3''. :cutelaugh

You might have noticed that she was taking my glasses and drinking them herself.
BTW, the MFC director she was with was Karen Hayes.

Getting back to the thread, there have been very, very few players in the last decade that have actually played well after leaving the Tigers - another symptom of our outstanding ability to pick really good players ::). If you are discarded from Richmond then its usually bad news to be picked up.

Only exceptions I can think of are Prescott and Harrison. (Maxfield was a swap for Gas and so doesn't count).

Others were swaps also for a pick or player(s).

Torney did above average at Crows.

But, hey, how can you be so blind and not notice the great Ottens.........................

I agree, it's looking good with those 3 players.
But, we would have got a lot more from Holland if we traded him when the Crows wanted him a year or 2 before.
And, we are still behind Geelong in trading players eg. Mark Neeld, Biddiscombe, Houlihan etc.
However, I can't see any negatives about Simmonds for Fiora.

The Biddiscombe trade hurts everytime i think about it.  We gave up pick 8, JUDE BOLTON, for Craigy Biddiscombe.  A master stroke.  How good would Bolton be in our midfield.  Tough, great ball winner and skillful just coming into his prime now.  Oh well, Tezza's on board now so hopefully those kind of trade stuff up's are well and truly in the past.   :)

GO TIGES!!!
Terry Wallace has the luxury of a 5 year deal with a club who was at rock bottom-he has made it quite clear that he will not swap early picks for anyone-he has time to build a team without the vultures circling

IMO the way football is today, all new coaches will want 5 year contracts with lowly performing clubs. (for rebuilding purposes) No one will want to coach a middle to high ranking club on a short term contract. Think of all the premiership coaches languishing at or near the bottom of the ladder ( Sheedy, Pagan even Matthews is struggling), they cant have just "lost it", the draft penalises long time success. Thus coaches like Eade and Wallace are smart taking recent cellar dwellars. This might explain why Kennett wants Matthews to take over Hawthorn after Clarkson has done all the losing and drafting. The real losers in the AFL athe moment are coaches like Grant and Thompson who would now appear to have missed their cyclical windows of opportunity.
