You guys make it sound as though we will be crap forever

If you think Terry Wallace or anyone for that matter can fix a club thats been totally mismanaged for such a long long time in a few years your greatly mistaken. All we have done is reaped what we have sown.Everyone wants a quick fix but its not going to happen.Terry did try and explain that last year and was ridiculed, you dont think he knows the issues he was faced with when he got here. Its going to take time to 1)improve the list and 2)for those kids on our list to mature into the players we expect - no demand them to be now.
My only real fear is that a vocal few who are in denial about how broken this club is will push for another coaching change and we all know where thats got us in the past.

We are losing generations of fans, we are the laughing stock of the AFL and the only fun we get nowadays is tearing each other to shreds on forums like this.

Agree Tygrys. This is my greatest concern too.

I mean how bad can a club be?

Someone told me the other day that since the beginning of the AFL, only 3 teams have not played in a grand final.
They went on to say that's how even the competition is these days because of the draft and the salary cap.

I was cringing..

Despite these introductions by the AFL to square up the comp, we struggle to somehow even make the top 8 in a 16 team competition.

2 finals appearances in 26 years and staring down the barrel of another few years in the wilderness to come yet, it certainly tests one's patience.

For those of our supporters that are under 25 we have been crap forever, and we are again this season.
My dark perspectieve atm comes from the lack of change since last season. There is nothing different happening, we are the tigers of the past 25 years. Every other team knows how to beat us (except the filth, but they are even worse than us).
The same senior players take their paychecks every week and give nothing in return. A couple of juniors come in and then get booted when the team plays poorly.
Cue Sonny and Cher, the alarm goes off and it's groundhog day! Again.

Lets face it, we are the most unsuccessful team in the past 15 years of football. We have the worst record in th finals, we havent seen finals action for seven years, we dont look like doing so for atleast another 3.

It isnt that bad being a Richmond supporter after a loss because all you have to say is we are *smile* and everyone agrees.

We will be crap forever unless the following key ingredients are significantly and rapidly improved:

- Off-field administration/sponsorship/membership - heavily relient on on field performance.
- Recruitment and List management.
- Player Development
- Coaching

Clearly we have been lamentable in the bottom three factors for years and have only just started to get our act together off-field. However the ongoing poor on-field performance could be costing the club a generation of fans. My own kids are questioning why we have to support such a poor club that never makes the finals. Hard to sell the deeds of the club over 30 years ago as a reason to support it now. They have only ever seen failure save for 1995 and 2001 and not witnessed a grand final appearance unlike we 40+ aged members and supporters.

Even if it takes another five years to finally get the club right, let's do whatever it takes. I'll keep supporting (although it makes me sick seeing how pathetic the club is performing) as long as I can see a plan, competent people in control of and working for the club and the right decisions being made. The next 12 months and two drafts are vital as to where we go from here. Personally I'd like to see a new coach and Miller out of the club to begin with. I can't see either able to help the club get out of this mess - and it is a really big mess.
