You're Worst Than Darren Goldspink!!!!

sen were asking listeners what their fave goldspink moment was an i heard someone texted in ... "my favourite goldspink moment was 5 minutes ago when he retired!" BWARHARHARHAR :clap

His final game was Richmond v St.Kilda in R22 last year. We had 16 wins from 45 Goldspink games (36%), compared with our overall record during his career of 40%. Who can forget his words of advice to Richo while he was lining up for goal?

See ya Goldy.  :wavey

Goldy is the one umpire whose name made me shudder when I arrived at the ground and opened the Record to see who was doing our games. If he was there I reckoned we'd be in for a hard night.

He thinks he as big a star as any player! Fancy an umpire having the ego to ask for a "send off" game.......please.

Heard a brillant sms from a hawks supporter on SEN yesterday:
"With Goldspink now retiring, Can Essendon promote a Rookie onto their Senior list?" :hihi :hihi :hihi :hihi :hihi :clap :clap :clap :clap :clap

Gotta love those Hawks supporters. They are not very bitter at all.

Any truth to the rumour that Goldspink will be invited down to Tigerland to become Richo's goal-kicking coach?

Wait for the next installment...

A newspaper column..and a special comments position on TV.
I didn't mind some of the hyphens work on Fox footy. At least he gave a perspective on what goes through these crazy buggers, and by extension the AFL's minds sometimes.

Meh ... not that fussed about this news really. Surprised at the vehemence. Seems he barely impacted our win/loss ratio at all. Bigger fish to fry I would've thought.

Also, I do think it's appropriate to celebrate somebody who has umpired 371 games with a farewell game. It's only the NAB Cup ffs.

Agreed. Geez he was miles more interesting than the dumb@rse droning of Tim Watson, Tony Shaw and David Schwartz.

I thought that Goldspink's comments regarding handing the baton of most hated umpire to Ray Chamberlain showed his human side.

His problem probably was that he had too much personality for an umpire. Perhaps he should have been a wrestling referee instead so that he could truly express himself.

This might be a strange question (and I'll be amazed if anyone can answer it) but does anyone know if Goldspink is actually Jewish? I've been wondering about this for years. Despite some of the incredibly anti-Semitic things - and we're talking really bad here, not just run-of-the-mill - I've heard directed at him (unfortunately some of them by Richmond supporters), I can't find anything to say that he is actually Jewish apart from the fact that his name suggests he could be. ???

Sitting next to Tony Shaw makes anyone look clever by compare.

Good gig really.
