Maurice Rioli Jnr

I asked Dan about his height when i seen him last time and said he is just over 180 and i also asked what about MJ he said he was nearly the same height and will probably get to his height. This was nearly 1 year ago.

Also seen picture of Dan dropping MJ off at Darwin airport and looking at that pick it looks like about 2cm 3 at max difference between them so thinking its about right maybe 1-2 more but who cares as thats big enough and im certain that MJ will be a stronger player through the hips and shoulders

Shai is 175cm Baker 173 and Prestia 175. If you are good enough size doesnt matter unless you want to be a ruckman lol
MoJo had a haircut today.
Now comes in at 163cm

Many great small players including the likes of these last 3 current flag heroes you mention prove the old adage that you can be any size and succeed in this amazing game of AFL, as long as you have the heart along with some skills and drive.

But I think the key point is that MJ has grown and might sprout a little more yet. He might never become a great mark but he will not be too small to have any issues with being competitive I think.

I don't care if he's short he's a Rioli of the most Royal Blood Line, a direct descendant at that.

One can never have too many Rioli's at the Tigers.

Cyril was a gun, and Dean also was a very good player that had amazing skills and had great ability to read the game, despite his fitness issues.

When your bread and butter is getting the pill of the deck , been low to the ground can be a real advantage.

Id say MRJ has worked very hard on diet and fitness over the last couple of years , looks a totally different kid in physique.

love the thought of a genuine small forward who dosent just play our way but also has the class to kick plenty of goals

His Dad was one of my favourite Tigers and I am genuinely excited. Low expectations in 2021 but he tackles like a machine and you don’t want to give him a sniff around the goals.
The vfl will be worth watching next year and we have the luxury of being able to bring him on slowly

Has real urgency and aggression - exactly the way we want them to play. Be surprised if this kid doesn't become a good player in todays Richmond.

Talk that Daniel will give him the 17. Reckon he chooses another number and makes it his own. Either way not fussed - we have another Maurice Rioli!

Does it get any better?

We win 3 of 4 flags

and we have Dustin Martin

and we recruit Maurice Rioli.

Don't wake me up.

Should debut at Dreamtime to give him a taste and to honour his remarkable indigenous heritage. The Rainbow Serpent can escort him, Daniel, Shai, Shedda, and Stacky onto the hallowed grass of the G, and the Darwin welcome to country elder can intro them.

Eh, no, we don’t pick players based on the colour of their skin.

The number talk at this stage is unnecessary and a potential distraction
Rioli is No 17 and should keep it
Give MRJ something different and let him concentrate on just becoming a good Tiger

Edit: Daniel is No 17 and should keep it

Give him 18.

He'll have the locker next to Daniel.

It'll look good on the team list in the Footy Record too.
17 - D. Rioli
18 - M. Rioli Jnr

Assuming he gets a senior game, who presents his jumper? Phil Egan played a fair bit of footy with his old man, and has kept in contact with the Riolis. I think Michael Mitchell might have only played with Maurice for a season at Richmond, but may have been connected in other ways. Then there’s Flea.
It’s probably not going to be Geoff Raines.

I reckon Phil Egan is a good choice.
