I don't think I'm being negative for the record....just realistic.

He's done his hammy 3 times in 18 months, then the club when to the extreme measure to get him right overseas which was a fail,
what else can the club do?

Even if he is right for round one and gets through a few games unscathed....another hammy during the year and the season is over for him.

He did both hammies though right? One once and the other twice. It could easily be that his body just isn't coping with the rigours of AFL as it's still developing and will settle down as he reaches physical maturity. He could easilyhave 10-12 years left in his career. No point getting too desperate just yet.

It's a hard one to pin down. High hammy pulls are the scourge of the strength and conditioning coach, not really well understood at this point in time.

However Grimes is a little different. The first major one was off the bone against Essendon, hardly typical of players with hammy problems. The most recent is a split in the tendons, again not your typical high hammy pull.

Certainly a big concern, but I doubt the best minds in the game would be willing to make a call on Dylan yet, we will just have to wait and see.

Short answer....zero.

The more times you do a hammy the harder it is to come back from it....at this rate he'll need a new career.
I said 6 months ago if he did another hammy his career is over.... then he twanged it....I still feel that way.

What ever we can get from Grimesy is a bonus....good thing we picked up TC.

Well it looks like we should just get rid of all the club doctors we have down at Tigerland cos we dont need 'em.

He have Dr. Jukes, our own resident PRE MD!!

I agree with you, Extension. I reckon the writing's on the wall for DG - it's unfortunate, but it appears his chronic hammies may curtail an extremely promising career.

Hopefully it's similar to Cotch though, where his bones have grown slightly faster than the tendons, which is causing some short term hiccups. In the long run, he may be ok. Hopefully. Maybe.

Gee Grimesy, you may as well clean out your locker, the brains trust on PRE have your papers stamped. All the best for the future.

Sorry for having an opinion, Your Highness. Please allow me to bathe in your font of all things good.

Your not allowed to view any opinions on this site, you will be sent straight to "chair" if you bag anything or anyone that wears yellow & black.

The zips opinion on Grimes is, there a lot of people on this site that jump on bandwagons and have turned this 17 gamer kid into David Dench.
I think he is good, promising kid. But he isn't the lynch pin to the back line. Rance is. If Rance stands up and dosent slip over every time he goes near it he will be our barometer down back.
I hope for the kids sake he takes 3 months off and then he can start he preseason in march/April.

If that was the case you'd probably own that "chair" rarely leaving it vacant for anyone else to take a seat. Maybe we should call it The "zipper" Throne? :hihi

I like the Grimes kid, but the injuries are a concern, I am sure the club will do everything possible to get him right, and good luck to him....but for mine I aint a doctor or anything but i have a sick feeling he will turn out worse than the moores and foleys, poor bastard.
Hopefully im proved wrong, but I hope in trying to get him right does not come to sacrifice another developing young oppoturnity.

Moore and Foley are one extreme, but Cotchin is the other. Many we're worried the Chimps Achilles were going to stop him playing senior footy but he's come on good.

Hopefully Grimes just needs time for his body to develop into an AFL's footballer as opposed to having a chronic hammy issue that is here to stay.

Does anyone else get annoyed by the use of barometer?

It seems to mean anything from "most important player" to "player by which others are judged" to "Indication of how the team is going."

I'm not sure what measuring atmospheric pressure has to do with it.

I feel like collingwood's only been training at high altitude because they got confused about it's effect on barometers.

I think we should use some other completely arbitrary measurement device to assess player worth.

I think Rance should henceforth be known as the lactometer of our side.

(Lactometer: Measures the specific gravity of milk.)

As much as I look I can't seem to find any dirt on Grimes - he's a living contradiction, a human enigma.

I really do pray he sorts out his hamstring issues, he could be a star and is so important to our 22 when fit.
