Shane Edwards

Edwards went up in AFL ratings to no 34 player in the league. They take into account every positive involvement and give marks and every negative involvement and take marks away.

On an objective and utilitarian analysis he is an elite player.

I agree with that analysis.

I think that would be the mainstream view too, Robert. The bloke is a toff.

Pick 30 would be a great return for Edwards if we could find a taker.

Shed is a highly skilled, important player for us. I'd want a late first rounder, and we aren't going to get that, so he's a keeper imo.

RFC would lucky to get a 3rd rounder for the 15 mins a game wonder, Overrated imo

Gee to be over rated you firstly need to be rated. Edwards has always been *smile*
No better then Tambling

Come on zips, we know you have some short-sightedness and that's a reasonable excuse but Edwards is alot better than Tambling ever was. Edwards has vision, Tambling would run into a brick wall if it was strategically placed on the ground. If we choose to trade Edwards (not totally against it) I think we'd get a reasonable return.

I would trade him for a burger with tomato and lettuce. No cheese

What sort of burger is that, Zips? No cheese?
More seriously, would have no problem with RFC trading Edwards.
The Tigers need to be brave at the forthcoming trade period.
Time to start being strong and bold.

If Seedsman got Collingwood a 2nd rounder, that's about fair
They need to off load at least 3 players this year in the trade period.
Conca, Edwards, Houli, Griffens, Vickery, Ellis, we have a heap to choose from

Three or four more big mans games from Griffith before the year is out, and injury free, he will be pushing up towards a high pick. Don't trade.

My 3 would be Edwards, Vickery and Lennon. 2nd rounders all round IMO. If we could then trade 2 of them for Steele and Marchbank (and maybe take Stewart from GWS for free as a little bonus) then we would be doing well.

Actually throw Batchelor in, but we wouldn't get a lot for him.

But how many clubs would know about/appreciate this? You rarely hear the media talk about Edwards' best skills (vision, handball etc). It's usually just "and Edwards had 14 touches, 3 tackles and 1 goal". I don't know any non-RFC people, (including absolute AFL die hards) that rate him. Probably because he doesn't get many supercoach points, unlike, say B Ellis or J McMahon.

IMO the moneyball method is always to trade players whose reputation is bigger than their value. There's no way I would put Edwards in this camp. We would get a pittance.

I've mentioned on here before a conversation i had with a recruiter of a club that has consistently played finals footy, and their opinion of Edwards. His comments were made before he started to come under any attention, and felt Richmond were using him wrong.

They'd have him in a heart beat.

Funny how quickly we want to trade the sort of player we lack, and for a pick around 30. How many of the picks around this level have gone anywhere at Richmond?

He is nearly 28. If we were offered a 2nd rounder you'd have to seriously consider it. Looking at draft from 3 years ago, 8 of the players between pic 20 and 30 have played 35 games or more. From 2 years ago, 8 have played more than 9 games. There's a reasonable chance to pick up a good 10 year player.

Serious? regardless of what you think of Shed, he'll get a mid to late first rounder every day of the week.

If that deal was on the table, Snake, I would hope RFC would snap it up in a blink.
In my humble opinion, I reckon Edwards would only attract a mid-second round pick.

Yesterday's game is the perfect example why he needs to go, should've killed it against Brisbane.
He dosent bring anything apart from 5 seconds every 3 weeks.
How people defend him is beyond me, biggest non preformer at the club
