Welcome to the Tigers - Daniel Rioli

I thought he was awesome. Treats every little contest like it’s a war.

Agree. In our top 10 most important players at the club.
Not many players would get up after those hits.
Astbury would’ve retired

Who decides whether Dan continues to play after an injury.

Clearly, he’s very brave and wants to continue playing, but I feel most uncomfortable about the number of Richmond players who continue playing after apparently serious injuries. Dan was in terrible pain one minute and then back on the ground in next to no time, with bandages and presumably an effective painkiller.

Not happy about this approach.....eg Astbury, Jack, Vlastuin, Dan Butler (last year)

We all remember the damage done to Mark Coughlan and Nathan Foley, who were also very brave

I share your concerns. Don't like it. We have a top VFL team. Even if they aren't quite ready or good enough yet for call-up, I'd always prefer to send out players close to 100% fit than expect a 50% fit guy to risk further damage. Doesn't make sense at all.

Think they wanted to give him a run so that he was right for Dreamtime, but not risk him in the AFL game. He did okay, too.

Did enough 10 contested possessions, 7 tackles will surely come in and join Shai Stack & Shedda for Dreamtime.

Butler played better than Rioli, but you'd have to bring him in for Dreamtime. I'd bring in both, maybe George and Menadue make way.

however Rioli has to come back in

Why? He's struggled to kick goals at AFL level this year, and in a VFL game where he should be a class above he kicked 2 points.

Butler has put in strong performances this year, and again on the weekend, but hasn't been able to break back in.

What sort of message does it send to someone like Butler that Rioli gets to roll back into the side off the back of an average performance while Butler can't get back after some strong games?

I adore Daniel, but he's coasting. I want him to earn it.

pretty much delivers the factual-type message

'Danny is twice the footballer you are Geezer'

and that's not being harsh on Butler at all. I reckoned Geezer would go
