The March to September - 2019

But if we finish 4th and play Geelong and beat them (isn't this the argument that it would be easier to beat Geelong at MCG than West Coast in Perth) and West Coast win then we'd both get the week off and wouldn't meet until the grand final anyway. Or am I getting this wrong?
Think we are in agreement. Finishing top 4 is vital - we wither play Geelong at the G and probably WC at the G in the Prelim, or we play WC and make it through to the GF regardless off that result. The only game i can see us losing is WC in Perth hence if we have to play them there, we do't want it to be a sudden death final.

I’d prefer we got a 12% boosting win

The nature of percentage is such that it gets much harder to improve it as the season progresses.
Right now, we would need something like a 208-30 win to increase it by 12.
At our current rate, by the last game we would need a 236-30 win.

keep the winning form. Come r23 play hard. Keep the mentality that we can beat anyone, win anywhere

collingwood beat them in 2007.
sydney beat them in 2006
hawthorn beat them in 1991.

so only 4 and they've won another 3 by under a kick (collingwood 1994, sydney 2005, carlton 2011)

That's 12,13,28 years ago. How relevant is that now? Fact is they've only lost 1 in last 6 going back 9 years. So no they don't lose finals often at home.

The Tigers can beat anyone from any position on the ladder if they are switched on and committed to the plan.
That's why the premiership is definitely on the agenda.
Love the way Richmond is going about its footy this year. Been topsy turvy on occasions but the manner in which the team has fought through adversity to now be a leading premiership contender is a mighty effort.

But several posters were unconcerned about giving up a couple of % in late quarter lapses on Friday night.. One comment was its not good to win by too much as it alerts future opposition that we are playing well. Others were alomg the lines that the mighty RFC does not bother itself with trifles like percentage.

About as relevant as the fact that we had not lost a final to Coll since 1937... Until prelim 2018.

Potential advantage. The order of the eight should be known and If a win should happen to mean a non-MCG final, we'll be in a position to rest players.

Plus, it brings back memories of the last round in 2017, which was a real good day at the footy.

And no more 6-day breaks. We've already had seven of those, plus a 4-day break.
Is thetre any reason to rest players with the pre finals bye the next week?

Only if a loss will keep us at the MCG for Week 1.

North did it against us in 2015 and Freo have done it a couple of times under Lyon. There's a rule against it now but you can get permission from the AFL.

very little benefit for the players.
rest r23 then bye then qualifying then bye then prelim.
come the prelim its possibly been 1 match in 35 days.

It's hard to see GWS loosing again so we will need to win all four to keep the double chance. We are capable of that though if we bring what we did against The Pies.

Not necessarily. If for example Brisbane lose to Geelong, then we could afford to drop one as well as long as we then, depending on percentage, thump Brisbane in the last round. The same sort of scenario for West Coast. There are still many scenarios to play out.

I’m so sad about that PF.

We should be in line for a 3-peat like Bris 2001-4 and hawks 2013-15.

It would have made this greatest era in our history .... which it still can be!

Using that logic without the 72GF disaster 72-74 three peat would have been our greatest ....but nothing can be done about that now so as you say a potential dynasty is in the hands of our squad and coaches and admin.

Watching the replay of our game last week on my IQ last night made me think "why couldn't these copying pricks collapse with injuries during the finals last year...".

I'm sure that if we didn't meet them in the PF, we would've made the GF for sure.

How we can finish 2nd

defeat Melbourne 6 goals
Defeat Carlton by 6 goals
Defeat WCE by 5 goals
& best Bris by 5 goals

And WCE & Bris don’t win any games by more than 20 points.
