Id like to see a 2 horse match race between a stallion and a mare in season.

Frankie Dettori on the mare, Connor McGregor on the stallion.

they just keep running until one of them gets whipped or bitten or hoofed off their mount.

no rules

I reckon the pay per view would be a huge take.

Frankie will have a lot of new fan club members though. Everyone who backed Vow and Declare owes Frankie.

Without his reckless psycho chimp riding, Ill Paradiso simply wins The Cup.

In the context, Possibly THE stiffest run I have ever seen.
Spot on ezy. Il Paradiso one of the greatest certainties beaten I’ve ever seen. Made worse by the fact that I backed it

Of course it should have been upheld JB. Il Paradiso should have clearly won the race. Happy to declare I backed him and am biased but I defy anyone to watch the replay and say he shouldn’t have won. He was finishing all over them and the interference stopped him dead in his tracks.

Dettori is a disgrace. He did the same in 2015. Hopefully he gets a substantial suspension again.

Yep Frankie cost me a shitload in '15

I have absolutely zero doubt that Ill Paradiso wins that race without Dettori.

my one paced nag (Finche) was looking for 5km and ran nowhere, so no bitter punter goggles from me

Frankie is gonna kill someone one day. Has no regard for any man or beast.

Wrinkles Williams will be laying back like a baby bird at the disco tonight and have Frankie regurgitating Moet down his gullet.

Frankie would probably like to have his time again, he had the whip in the left hand, Master of Reality was laying out ever so slightly, so he put the whip in the right hand at the clock tower and the rest is history.
A great ride by Williams, he and Nash Rawliller both had a great day, they're both Richmond supporters :clap2

If Frankie had his time again, he'd try drive his whip up someones arse and bite his horses inside ear off.

He's an animal.

I wouldn't mind him in the forward pocket for Richmond.

:))

I would've liked to see Frankie greet the judge first................and then have them take it off him, that would have been a real Master of Unreality.

Mate of mine lost a few hundred due to the protest. He had all of the first 4 in his trifecta but the divi dropped by about 30%. Could have been worse I suppose.

Roycey did ok with backing Prince of Arran each way though gave most of it back on the punt and the grog.

Most frustrating part of the day was being stuck behind two clowns checking about 15 non paying mystery trifectas on a machine 45 minutes after the frigging cup. I saw the names of the nags, FFS , Mer de Glace and Cross Counter did not run a drum! It's not that hard to check with your reading skills!

Well done Roycey.

I didn't do any good.......... i tried to get the first 4 by standing out Mer De Glace to win. She ran the 2nd fastest last 200 metres for the whole 10 race meeting, and finished a length behind the winner.

Just listening to one of them bookie spruikers talking about the bloke who had ten bucks on some sort of multi in the cup.....
Worth zero when they passed the post.
Turned into 700k plus after the protest! Happy days :)

watching the replay of the Cup last night and Surprise Baby wins over 3250m

Just a baby and worth remembering next year.

Is Melody Belle confirmed for The Mackinnon? Plenty of rain forecast and looks extremely hard to beat?

Cup Day and like Prince of Arran at around the $17 mark. Is proven at the distance (important), ran 3rd in last years cup in soft ground so should handle track but note he is not a mudlark. Geelong Cup winner's have been running good races in the Melb Cup for ages now - just think at the price he is worth a $1 each way.

Danny O is very happy with Vow and Declare but barrier no help and ground a slight query - Mrs T44 is backing it.

Good punting all
Jumped the wrong way and backed Prince Of Arran which looked the winner all the way down the straight but just didn't finish off the 3200m. Agree that Il Paradiso should have won. Dettori has a (bad) habit of influencing results, for a world class jockey he seems to lose control or maybe doesnt care for his fellow riders. Happy with the result for the stable - not your traditional lead in.

Like Moonlight Maid in the Oaks.

After Walker’s indiscretion with the whip in the Cup, I like the irony of him winning race 7 at Kyneton on Persuader.

Just heard Craig call himself a Richmond man on radio. Said his horse gave the equivalent of a Dusty don't argue!

After Frankie did a “Dunkley” and tried to put Vow and Declare through the fence, he certainly answered in spades with a don’t argue that would’ve done Dusty proud.
Vow and Declare is now my favourite horse, I call him Balmey.

Well, things have just got a bit weirder... Ran into my punting mate from yesterday and he has told me about his brother's efforts. He's backed the trifecta that went over the line with Ladbrokes so got paid out with that and also got the post protest version! The ultimate double dip... He also had a few hundred on cheating Frankie for a place! Made about 12K for the day. Cop that you corporate B'stards!

Noticed Main Stage is running in R.1 today at Flemington Oaks Day. That's the horse shared owned by Dusty and lots of Richmond men, right?
What do the experts here think? Any chance - maybe only for a place?
Not favoured by its form or the barrier, with IMPI the hot tip, but a couple of scratchings and tricky conditions with rain and blowy. Long shot?
