Quite a moving clip of The Premiership Cup visiting 1969 premiership player Michael Bowden, (and his clan), who is suffering from MND.

The Fox presenter could have at least got the pronunciation of Bowden right.

Wonderful story.
I hadn't realised Mike B was suffering MND - that's very sad.
He and the whole Bowden family have done great stuff for Richmond - and society in general really - on and off the footy field.

Ignorant *smile* Fox commentator - just another example of the the ignorant *smile* Sydney influence on national broadcasting

I didn't want to watch....but I had to. Sad to see people you knew or knew of become frail like that. All the best to Michael and well done Joel and Pat. I felt better watching Dan show off the cup at the Tiwi Islands. Always love watching the kids kick a footy with bare feet (= talent) and can't wait to see Moz the 2nd join us in 2021.

Thanks for posting Caesar
Bloody loves the tigers as both a past player and a fan!
Could have been so much more Joel, had we had some better cattle!

Melbourne
Joel Bowden was a very damaging player as a youngster roaming across half forward for the Tigers.

Got blunted playing across half back.

Grizz is royalty a Tiger Champ, best wishes to him fighting that abhorrent disease.

Sends a tingle down the spine listening to Joel talking about the club taking the cup around to his family.

Rhett Bartlett has a fantastic interview with Mike Bowden available as a podcast or via his website
e.g.
It was done back in 2012 and he talks of his career at Richmond starting as a kid playing a school game against Bones Richardson
And it goes on to talk about him missing selection in the 67 GF to Bull Richardson but then playing in 69 - and further about his family including the boys who played at Richmond and elsewhere.
Fascinating stuff with mention of some great Tiger names.

Incidentally another of Rhett’s podcasts from the archives and we’ll wort a listen is with John Dyer son of Capt Blood.
