You may well be right DJ. But Climate Change is a scientific area of study, not a political issue. It is possible to be wrong, objectively. Opinions are worth next to zilch. Opinions of non-experts and kooks, less than zilch. And it is particularly odd to label those who accept the well evidenced and reported science as "activists". Surely you can see that deniers are, at least, also activists?
We are a social species and ridicule has a place. Satire, tomfoolery, etc. are all tools we can deploy. There have always been social consequences for making a goose of yourself. To badly paraphrase Sam Harris talking about bad ideas "If you walk in to a job interview and tell them about your strongly held belief that Elvis is alive and working at your local McDonald's, that should and does have consequences". All ideas are not equal. All ridicule is not unjustified.
You don't see the right wing marching in the streets, demanding, disrupting, interfering. They are content to be heard at the ballot box.
Regarding your Elvis quote - it's similar to what I think when someone describes themselves as an activist. They're saying to me, "I'm a troublemaker, and proud of it".
No, why would they? You don't need to march when you have a pulpit and the ear of those in power. They have Sky News, Fox News, 2GB, The Australian, the Government. What would be the point of marching?

Of that lot I patronise only The Australian, occasionally. In the States you've got CNN, CBS, ABC & NBC all pulling left, and only FOX speaking for Trump. And the people still want Trump. Facts win over rhetoric.

I have no doubt that you honestly believe the above. Other than your assertion that you only read the Australian (which is sad in itself, even the Herald Sun is more intellectually honest) the only other part of your post that is accurate is Fox speaks for Trump.
Sometimes there's just no point in engaging in conversation because you get to a point where you realise the other side are just idiots or refuse to listen because they don't want to admit they were wrong. Or, more sadly, because they are so caught up in the left vs right disease that's affecting the world now that they'll only take the position their political persuasion dog whistles.
Then it's time to just call them out as idiots and move on. It's the stance I take with anti-vaxxers and houli-haters. Might as well just call them out for the idiots that they are.
True enough. Most conservatives are happy enough to co-exist with the left, especially when they're in opposition. It's their recent pushiness that's brought this about and forced people to draw a line.
If you want to bankrupt the country and live like the third world on the basis of assumptions and theories that are as rubbery as Essendon's record-keeping, then go ahead and vote for it. But this is a forum where you can't simply stomp out dissenting views because you don't like them.

I'd describe it a little differently. Conservatives are mostly content with the status quo; lefties are mostly malcontents. Conservatives are methodical builders; lefties are demolishers.

The "popular free to air mainstream" tv in Australia is only left mouthpieces.
The patronage for these outlets is far higher than the ones covered by knighter and others previously. One only has to stay home from work and be bombarded with 3 hours of endless garbage "news" to know why going to work is a pleasure. In the evenings it really ramps up. Maybe this is why our PRE friends on this thread are so pent up with anger and rudeness

Your attitude and behavioir would not be the same if we met face to face because communication doesn't work like it does on a keyboard.
We have given them the blueprint on how to win the next election but as usual they think abuse and hysteria will win over the masses.
Disagree. There is a difference, hate is not a word i use in Australian politics. There are intolerent twats on both sides but most fit close to the middle on most things. Not much to give credit to on any side recently i agree.
The activists of the left currently divide the political landscape like never before. They are the ones promoting intolerant behaviour befitting a juvenile offender. It will never end well.
