Derwayne interviewed Blight today & both were going on about how all teams are defense 1st & someone has to start attacking etc for it to change, they still haven't clicked!
Short South Australian memories. Adelaide’s 2017 team was an attacking machine which scored over 250 points more than any other team in the comp.
We all know what happened with them.

I see old David King is telling us RFC have changed football and every club needs to catchup.

This guy is a genius

His insight is amazing.

Next up, Kingy says that teams need to score MORE than their opposition if they want to win.

Funny thing is he tipped against us in both GF's. And he tipped the cats to beat us in 2017 & 2019 finals.

As I've said before he is great in hindsight. I call it kingsight.

Pre 2019 GF David King

"Everyone needs to see what it's like at Richmond, the way they train, get around eachother, the fun they have and the genuine care they show. I've seen nothing else like it, and they bring that to the game."

Who's your tip then David?

"Ahh... The Giants for mine"

Good old Kingy.... should stick to roughin up cab drivers!

He’s one of the worst tipsters going around. If he backs against you, you can almost pencil it in as a win.

To be fair he wasn't the only 1, unsure if they tip against us out of spite or if it's what they really think, either way a lot of them look very stupid after writing us off multiple times during the yr & we still won it. The AFL media had a very poor yr in general last yr.

Think ya right there @Jonesracing82 iirc Nick Riewoldt was the only bloke who backed us in after the bye and never jumped off.
Clearly understood how we played while the majority of the so called expert analysts pulled up their Champion Data stats and hypothesized on our inadequacies!l

The problem that a lot of football scribes have with us is that they are obsessed with stats. They believe that the team with the most stats should always win. They are forever talking about contested possession, uncontested possession, inside 50s etc etc and using these as a way of explaining which team is winning the game.

How often do we hear things like West Coast is plus 10 in uncontested possession, no wonder they are winning easily or Geelong is plus 15 in contested possession, no wonder they are winning easily.

Richmond nearly always loses nearly every stat, why are they winning??????

Of course this happens because most other teams flick the ball around looking for a neat pass to a player on the next line. Often it takes four touches to advance 10 metres. The first goes 10 m to the left, the second is ten metres back, the third is 10 metres to the right and the fourth is a short pass 20 meters forward……….which Vlastuin marks.

It must do their heads in!!!!

Not just the scribes, Fagan and Scott were just as perplexed when we beat them in the finals as the stats showed they should have won.

You’re really under selling the AFL media there..... they’ve been very poor for years!

I don't think they were really underselling us nor would many have been willing to put money where their tips were.

They were playing the game called AFL media. Pump up the underdog, try and make it sound like it wasn't a foregone conclusion, generate debate and discussion topics to fill the hours and hours of AFL related shows when there is only one match to talk about.

I think we can be precious sometimes. Everyone knows we are so far ahead of the competition that it's boring to talk about unless you're a Tiger. The media need something to talk about and everyone saying "Yep, Richmond will *smile* it in by a record margin" will leave nothing to discuss.
