I'm calling him robot. He's like one of those specially crafted robotics machines that has been specially designed to precisely and accurately pick up and deliver a product piece into position.

Does he EVER fumble. Cleanest gatherer and disposer I've ever seen.

Elite hands. Always clean, smart, and as tough as broady or Vlas. Relishes contact and seems to be a great bloke who just loves the game. Looking forward to a long Richmond career from this guy. What a ripper!
The epitome of ‘The Richmond Man’.

Richmond are blessed with players who see the game unfold differently, think on their feet, execute in traffic brilliantly and find space that even their teammates can't see. Right now the list as I see it has Dusty, Edwards, Bolton and Riewoldt. Baker is joining this group.

Bakes is a BIG little man, his heart is as big as Phar Lap's........the little league kid who gave him his cap was almost as tall as him.

Baker is the kind of player who you could build a side around. I’d love to see him move into the midfield. He has all the weapons already.

My God that left foot to Riewoldt with a couple of minutes to go highlights his skills. What an endorsement for picking pure footballers over athletes.
Even the receive, it wasnt the best handball but he was able to control the wet ball while running under pressure then the perfect pass on his opposite foot. if it was Dusty, or GAblett the commentators would still be talking about it.

Doesn't play a bad game. Even in finals when the heat is on. Just laps it up. Not right that a young bloke should be this consistently good.

I love Bakes and this could be an option with someone like Markov coming it at half back for him.

With his height, cleanness and ability of both feet could be our version of Sam Mitchell in the midfield.

And he's made of that super-bouncy rubber stuff. Gets hammered, grins, gets up and jogs away. :gotiges
Happened in his debut match. Huge home & away match vs Collingwood at the G.

I remember right in front of me at the Punt Rd End. It was a really tight, hot finals-like contest. Really intense, both sides tackling like packs of rabid dogs.

Bakes finds himself on the end of a chain of handballs (a hospital pass really) coming out of a passage of play that was a bruising rolling maul of Collingwood tackles. Pretty much a chain of handballs in tight traffic, trying to outrun the chain of ferocious tackles. He has a slight sniff of a goal with one of his first touches in AFL footy, but gets absolutely Polaxed by 4-5 Collingwood defenders all about twice his size. I thought they’d killed him on debut. Like it was going to be one of those scenes out of the Roadrunner, where the Coyote has been run over by a train and his body is imprinted 12 inches into the turf.

Bakes just bounces up like the energiser bunny exchanging pats on the back with his mates, enthusiastic grin on his face as if to say, “how good is this!”

Bakes is the sort of person who deserves the best and fairest. He gives his all, very skilled , hard as nails, nothing and no one no matter how big bothers him, plays the team game and all with a smile on his face.
