Who is the best ever swing man to play the game? Just curious
Some pretty handy Premiership Tigers to play a variety of roles in past years...
*smile* Clay - Full Forward, wing, Full Back.
Kevin Sheedy - Ruck rover, Back pocket, Forward pocket
Barry Richardson - Full forward, CHF, Full back
Roger Dean - Back pocket, Half forward
Billy Barrot - Centre, Half forward, Full forward
And of course more recently Dusty plays Midfield, Full forward.

I know it's early days, and some will howl me down for even suggesting this, but I believe that over the journey Balta will ultimately prove to be a more formidable player than Rance.
I know it's setting the bar at a very high level, but I see Balta as being a gun player for the Tigers in a few different roles.
After he has his second premiership medallion around his neck at the end of season 2021, the sky will be the limit for Balta.

Peter Knights.
Jim Jess.
Stephen Silvani.
Justin Leppitsch
Jim Jess was the best we have had. We have to play Balta as a genuine swing man. So valuable to have a player like this.
I can see him as the 2nd key forward post Jack changing in the ruck as well. What a weapon, so many possibilities

It's a couple of weeks old, but an enjoyable read.

Thanks @tigerman hadn't seen that article. .... Rewatched the prelim today and there's something definitely special about Noah. .... if the boys stay hungry, the ride we're presently on hopefully has a bit left in it yet!

I think he will be our answer in the ruck next season without Soldo available.

The question will be where does he play apart from back-up ruck? Would be an unusual structure to go from a key defence post into the ruck so he may well find himself forward.
So TBR, who do you propose we replace him with down back? Garthwaite? :rotfl1

Yep... hopefully we have a full deck down back of talls/hybrids - Astbury, Grimes, Broad, Vlas. Noah ruck and forward and maybe occasionally down back in an emergency. Might depend on progress with CCJ as well.

I think we will be back to the Astbury/Grimes/Broad/Vlastuin mix of 2019.
I hope your close to the mark, footy these days is evolutionary, however, I still think for the moment, we leave him to mature down back, just like Rance was.

Forgot Francis Bourke - wing, Full Back (was nominated in the AFL’s team of the century in both positions).
