Seriously should get his named mentioned when the media talk of Grundy, Gawn and Naitanui. I reckon if you asked those 3 who they hate to play against the most, Nank's name will be the first out.

I don't want to hear any crap anymore about a heart the size of Phar Lap. Phar Lap wishes he had a heart the size of Nankervis.

This guys nickname should be Goliath, because he plays like one.

And when we bring young Ryan into be his ruck partner, we can have Samson and Goliath as the duo.

Absolutely, not that his not a good tap ruck, however he’s whole package is as good if not better, so much better footballer then Naitanui (imho most overatted player in history) better mark then the other 2 and twice as aggressive, in saying that Gawn deserves the title , however I don’t believe any other ruck should be said better then The Nank

No ones saying it, but I’d have him as one of the best rucks in the game at present. Nine of the others have 3 Premierships for a start. Geelong’s amateurs have next to no chance against him next week.

Properly our most important player.
I thought no Richmond ruckman would be better then Greg Stafford and Brad Ottens but Nakas is a star.

A few things on Nankervis.

He has a dozen virtues, a few limitations and a couple of weaknesses. And offsets.

On limitations. There are two ruck types - Cruiserweight and Dinosaur. Nankervis and Soldo, for example.

Toby Nankervis is a cruiserweight. He's smaller. Doesn't get the air. He's the best cruiserweight in the game.

On weaknesses. He's had injuries. He's a young player. He's had to learn to survive. To know when to go and when to hold, and corral. And he can just not spoil - no instinct.

OTOH when he is on, the very quick Nankervis will hurt an opposition small in possession in the square. Cruiserweight ruck. Mobile and full of hurt. Experienced and disciplined when on.

Let's get him some cover and keep him right until September. And maybe blood a player. BTW CJ is a cruiserweight too.

I did not foresee at the time of writing the above^^^ that two proven average cruiserweight Geelong rucks would take Toby Nankervis out the back and acquaint him with the brutal reality of life and death but they did that. Battlers. Esava and Blicavs, mansplaining to our lone (cruiserweight) ruck.

It wasn't good.

A handy dinosaur would've laid down the law to those two frauds, but eh. Our only dinosaur is 1cm of graft away from extinct.

And so Toby got one of the worst hidings any ruck has ever had.

Now. Our panel opened the game with the notion that a 5' 10' novice wingman would play #2 ruck. (It worked last week.) Ok. What if that didn't work?

Well, obviously, Lynch rucks. But Lynch didn't ruck. (Lynch didn't do anything.)

Mr Damien Hardwick got as much of a hiding as Toby Nankervis did.

Haven't watched a replay but at the ground I thought other than Nank not tapping as effectively as he could have he beat them in the ruck. Blivacs played it smartly in the middle a couple of times but it wasn't centre clearances that hurt us. Worst hidings a ruck as ever had? Crazy.

We lost because we allowed them to waltz through our zone defence. They took 3 contested marks i50. 3. They took 20 marks i50. It was a training drill and they kicked well. Nothing to do with Nank and stoppage work. All to do with how we defended when they had the ball.
