The I ❤️ Collingwood thread.

Has he said in recent media (before today) what his plan was re coaching Collingwood eg "I plan to see my contract out" or "I want to coach Collingwood in 2022"?

His options:
  • Accepts a godfather offer from North Melbourne. Second time lucky.
  • Follow his mentor from Collingwood to Carlton.
  • Work alongside Brad Scott in some undefined AFL role.
  • Coaching Australia's Fed Cup team.

I may be in the minority, but I think he’s a good coach and I enjoy listening to him, particularly the contempt with which he treats Robbo.

I think their list has been massively overrated (they haven’t had a key forward since Travis Cloke) so to perform like they did from 2018-2020 was a pretty good achievement. Not to mention their disastrous list management and salary cap.

If they win in 2018 (shudder) we wouldn’t be here.

I agree... heard he's a bit of a *smile* IRL but comes across well most of the time for mine. He can coach but pretty clear his time at the Pies is up. If it is, I wonder if they are clearing the decks for someone like Clarkson?

Who cares after 10 years he has left Collingwood worse off then the day Shaw left in 99.
Who is the poor bastard to pick up the pieces now?

I would mostly agree privately,

I think the Alpha, self-centred, competitiveness got the most out of himself and his list,

but his limitations (and probably the Yin-Yin with Eddie) ultimately restricted him to 2nd best.

If he could have performed his symphony with Peggy and Benny, he may have gone all the way.

tough gig.

see ya nafe

Knowing Collingwood they will be after Clarkson.
2nd option Lyon
3rd Mitchell
4th Mark Neeld

I’ll say it again, just 13 games ago the Pies were on top of the world after beating the Eagles in Perth in that final.

Since then it’s just been disaster after disaster after disaster after….

I'm not convinced he is a good coach, but Collingwood did him no favours with their list management clusterf***. Could the 2010 team have won more flags with Malthouse? Who knows, but they didn't win any with Buckley. Went closer than they really should have in 2018, as someone above pointed out, no real key forward - bloody hard to win flags without a quality key forward.

Collingwood look like they are in for an extended period of pain, which is nice :p They can enjoy it along with Carlton and Essendon.

I am worried. Buckley left Brisbane and they won three flags. He finished playing for Collingwood and they won a flag please oh please do not let history repeat. :nono

Hardwick, B Scott and Buckley all started coaching in 2010 and only one is left. All things considered, they have a very good collective record of 3 premierships between them.

Reckon they’ll look at Lyon real hard. Which would be good. Doesn’t have a great track record where building or performing with young, inexperienced stocks is concerned.

I know why Buckley failed at Coll. Cos he is as borrrring as a really borrrring thing! Is anyone listening to his monotone blathering? Zzzzzzzzz

So, the real reason for Joffa's extradition from Fiji is now exposed.

Joffa to replace Buckley!!
