2021 Draft Thread

have you got sonsies 20m and 2km Bully?

Callahans 2km very, very good.
Don't have at this stage but his speed is good, his tank is a work in progress. Don't see him as a two way runner so that may go against him. But I will say this, if Hawthorn get pick 13 then I reckon you can forget about Tyler Sonsie getting to Richmond, don't think he's on our radar at 7.

Love the fact that Sonsie is described as a highly skilled dual sided mid with a little bit of toe. Suggested inconsistency an issue but certainly can be explained by the disruptions that have occurred over the last 2 yrs. Key question, is he a Danny Meyer clone, or a quicker version of one S Mitchell?

He has the tools to be A grade, no doubt about. If we rewind back to the Box Hill game then he sits comfortably in the top 5, maybe that's why Hawthorn are so desperate to get their mitts on pick 13. Reading between the lines that could be seen as a positive because the Hawks would have some excellent intelligence with regards to his attitude.

I share your concerns Tigerman.
We will seriously need to pull the proverbial out of our a$$ next year at the trade table.
We have Biggy, Miller and Ryan as developing talls.
When Jack retires next year we will have Lynch as our sole tall forward.
Not sure Ryan is a power forward. Ruck/Forward at best.
Next year will be tough.
But we’ll have plenty of midfielders.
I wouldn't worry about it,all the talk here is just peoples opinions ,it's not Richmonds recruiters opinions.
One thing l have noticed about Hartley and co,they usually fill needs.

We do need a mid or 2 though,l think if Hobbs is there at 7 we most likely take him,and maybe we look at Amiss at 15 if he's there.
Gibcus is the interesting one for me,his leap and contested marking is elite, and he's agile and has good pace,to me he has the attributes to be a good forward.

Not sure where this noise is coming from that Hobbs makes it to pick 9?

Its wishful thinking because its absolutely no chance.

We haven't been ringing GWS, GC and Adelaide every day for the last 2 weeks because we think he is going to slip.

I do get that impression. Who do you like at 15?

All true but Balta can certainly play as a key forward as well

Just some more thoughts on Goater, the rushed disposal has mainly occurred in the midfield, not on a back flank where he looks a lot more assured. This I believe is a development issue and not a technical flaw, I reckon with the right coaching you could get that sorted.

And you know what every other club's recruiters are thinking?

You may actually be onto something.
They may feel they can cope without him in the backline and send him forward on occasions to see how he goes.
They could get Broady to cover for him.
That might keep the wolves from our door

If he does go early who is your second preference at 7?
Ooooh lm trying to work out the top 6,who's left .
I would take Gibcus if he was there, you get a 10 year + kp,l think he could play forward as well.
Then maybe the rest of the picks on mids, depending on who's around.

Connor Macdonald is quite a impressive mid,l wonder if he's there in the second round ,,from the stingrays

If you believe Gibcus has forward ability then he vindicates a top ten pick. How do you rate his kicking ability?

I love Balta in the backline but he has all the tools to be a key forward. I also would love to see him play the role Jackson plays with Melbourne as the 2nd ruck and 3rd tall forward.
In fact I would love 3 Noah Balta’s.
Fast becoming a big favourite of mine, these swingmen are worth so much .

Hawks just gave away Ceglar for nothing and are apparently paying some of his salary.

They got brisbanes 3rd next year and gave their own 4th back. That might end up being only a 4 or 5 spot upgrade, yet they are paying his salary. Crazy town.

Prior to that draft I had Balta primarily as a forward & Naughton as a backman, never thought their roles would be reversed in the real deal, Naughton starting to bite me on the arse but you can't win them all. Not sure if I want to change my parameters on kicking either, will just let this one go through to the keeper.

forgive my ignorance bully but DVR = Djacob Van Rooyen?

(terrific to see you back here btw (y))
Apologies, Jacob is the correct spelling, have had a million acronyms floating in my head and that somehow has bobbled out into the post. van Rooyen (small v), won't be easy when starting a sentence with his surname so maybe keep it a simple JVR (although now I'll probably get confused with Jack).
