I found that extremely strange. Undersized ruck who was not quick , no agility not really a ruck not really a CHF who couldnt jump. Had excellent endurance but never had a position and was never really going to make it. Out of the five he was the only one that had so many deficiencies he was never likely to make it
Generally talls get more credits before they're called a bust. Some spectacular dud rucks have had long AFL careers.

2004 draft was a living nightmare to live through

Deledio was a rolls royce half back or half forward, most of his career we wasted trying to make him a midfielder which he wasnt

Tambling was the biggest draft bust of the last 20 years when we could/should have taken Buddy

Danny Meyer was never going to make it, soft, not quick enough, and arms were too short

Pattison was a VFL footballer

and Polo was just a battler

Not Richmond related but thought id post this as 2 players we have spoken about prior to the draft, Dittmar and Ronald Fejo jnr

Overlooked mid, former Docker in mix for Eagles' rookie spot

West Coast has invited two players to train with the club over the pre-season

WEST Coast has invited former Fremantle-listed ruckman Luke Strnadica and overlooked draft prospect Kade Dittmar to trial for its vacant list spots this pre-season.

The pair are among eight players across the competition officially invited to train with clubs ahead of the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period, with more likely to be added in the coming weeks.

The Eagles have at least one spot to fill after the NAB AFL Draft and Rookie Draft, while Brad Sheppard's concussion challenges could open a second spot if he retires or is placed on the inactive list.

Strnadica spent 2017-18 with the Dockers but was delisted without playing a senior game, returning to WAFL club East Fremantle where he has strived to reignite his career for the past three seasons.

Dittmar is a tough inside midfielder from East Perth who has battled significant back injuries but had a clear run in 2021, earning selection in the WA under-19s team.
The pair will begin training with the Eagles on Tuesday after undergoing medical testing at the club.

Elsewhere, Essendon has invited West Adelaide wingman Ronald Fejo jnr to trial for one of its two vacant spots, alongside delisted midfielder Dylan Clarke.

'IT OPENED MY EYES' The move that put Fejo on AFL radar

Tex Wanganeen
will also be training with the Bombers after being overlooked in the Draft as part of his father-son ties to the club.

Carlton captain Patrick Cripps has been joined by brother Josh at training, with the WA tall pushing for a spot on the Blues' list alongside Eastern Ranges tall Tyreece Lieu.

Delisted Melbourne defender Marty Hore will train with North Melbourne, while ex-St Kilda forward Patrick McCartin is hoping to join brother Tom at the Swans.

The Pre-Season Supplemental Period runs from January 10 to March 9, while clubs also have the option of keeping a rookie spot open for the Mid-Season Rookie Draft on June 1.

We have 43 on our list. Are we going 1 short or saving a spot for the mid season draft?

Was it the players though or the development. Looking back only Patto was really a limited footballer never likely to make it with his skill set
I didn't say they were any good only hyped ! :)

Deledio was a star, our best player between Richo and the emergence of Cotchin, Martin and Rance. Tambling would have been seen as an ok pick if he was taken at 30. The other 3 were battlers at best

really ?

Name me 19 that are worse?
Cale Morton, Paddy McCartin, Jimmy Toumpas, Jarrad Oakely-Nicholls, Beau Dowler, Scott Gumbledon, Mitch Thorp.

Not saying Tambling was a success at his pick but he wasn't as bad as those guys. Pretty sure we could get that list to 20. :). Let's say top 40 ......

Richard Lounder !!!!

The only spot available is for a Cat B rookie, it doesn't need to be filled. I would assume we go with 43. We have rarely taken more than 1 Cat B rookie at a time.

Griffens over Fyfe, Fiora over Pavlich, Corey Ellis over anyone taken after, JON over anyone take after, Batchelor over Parker to name a few Richmond related ones.

StKIlda - McCartin over Petrecca, Billings over the Bont are two of the worst ever that don't get anywhere near the publicity they should.

Reckon Scoop might be right - there would be 19 worse.

Scully and Trengrove over Dusty.

Would have to be the biggest draft error of them all, made worse by doing it twice.
