I thought he was fantastic. Worked really hard all night and kicked well for goal. 3 goals in those conditions is a good result.

But will the media hatchet job on him never end?? WTF are they talking about with this Saad pole in the eye incident?? It was a *smile* accident you morons. Stuff like that happens every game. I can’t believe this *smile*.

*smile* Dangerfield caves Vlastuin’s head in with his fist in the first quarter of a GF and causes him to miss the entire game. Oh but that was just part of the play and accidental contact. But Lynch accidentally gets Saad in the eye and he might have a case to answer?

*smile* off!

Opening quarter Shorty drives from 60m to just outside the square, favouring Plowman, if that can ever happen. Lynch, one on three, is out of position but Young, in front of Lynch, attacks the ball instead of screening for Plowman. Durdin, behind, does not get there.

So Lynch spoils Plowman (if anybody else can ever do that) into the square, where Shai, slightly behind the roving Docherty, nudges that player aside and soccers a 1mm perfect goal.

Later in the game Young is in front and in perfect position to intercept with Lynch trailing by 1.5m, each running at the ball. Young launches. Lynch launches, and without ever threatening the ball, Lynch spoils easily over the line. Old-fashioned defence. You spoil the player on the way to the ball.

Lynch is easily the best spoiler art Richmond. Jack is probably second best.

Lynch may have recorded zero smothers but he got almost that much pressure on five(?) kicks. Even when up the park. Defensive efforts off the scale. Is he the best defender in the game? If he's played there.

Kicked three in the rain? Yep.

This bloke is right now a better player than the venerable Hawkins ever was. And chasms beyond McKay.

Is he the best forward in the game? The best player? Let's see.

Frustrating game from Tom yesterday. He did so much right & worked his arse off as usual however he also made some costly mistakes notably the missed goals he should have kicked & that absolute sitter he dropped in the goal square. He played well overall but he'll ultimately be disappointed with his game because he didn't finish his work & we paid the price.

Don't need to defend him.
He missed to many easy goals.
He had the Viking on toast for most of the night.

This bloke is in career-best form. He is flying. Rugged. Committed. His ego is dead. Ultimate Richmond man.

He is sound. Free in his movement. He is fit. And strong.

The game has to be read in the context of the very gusty and flukey wind. Hawkins struggled in the air too. The breeze would be strong for a minute on your face from the right, then disappear, then go back to steady on the left. The ball held up in the air at odd times.

For Tom, it didn't work out against Geelong. Lynch was surprised by De Koning's very good defence early. (Big test for SDK and he came up well.) Tom had to get up the park to get us some connection. When he did SDK was able to beat him one out early. Amazement then respect - then resolve.

Nearer goal Lynch was much stronger. (Been pretty good there in 2022.) And he was mobbed all night. Kept bringing it down. And as the game wore on he rallied and ragdolled SDK twice. Frees against Lynch.

RFC has spoken to the the AFL product ambassadors in the past. About why say, Gerald is endorsed AFL product but Tom Lynch is satan. It worked for a bit. They did tidy up. A while ago. But Lynch didn't have much luck with the ambassadors on the night.

This bloke is flying. Get sum. You don't suppose Ghoul's marketing department will include Tom Lynch [RICH] in a poster, do you? Product ambassadors love posters.

He also gave away that free after Jack marked 30 out in front of goals. Stupid Stupid. Jack kicks that we almost break them I reckon.

Still dirty on him for that stupidity

Was it a free though? Yes he wrestled him to the ground but De Kocking went down easily after holding his ground for most of the night. I went back and watched the replay and watched it three times and I reckon it was a 50/50 and we know how 50/50s always play out for us

He threw a player to the ground, a player who was facing away from the contest, a player who was holding Lynch so he could not get to the contest . . . holding the man anyone?

The unbiased would say Lynch had hold of De-Konings arm dragging him to ground and away from the marking contest. Well picked up free from the umpire unfortunately.

Agree, but Lynch was only holding De-Koning's arm to try and get out of the clutches of De-Koning so he could get into position to contest a marking contest. One of these players is holding the other back from a contest, the other is trying to contest the ball.

De-Koning was holding Lynch while not in possession and it should have stopped there with a free kick to Lynch. Forwards wouldn't need to grab arms and shove players to the ground if they weren't held all the time when not in possession. It happens to them all, and it happens in plain sight. The defenders will continue this blight on the game while they continue to get away with it.

We're talking about booing Stewart for what he did, and yet these feral cat supporters still boo Tom....for being too good for them?

Correct analysis. De Koenig grabs Lynch first. De Koenig is not even looking at the ball. Should have been a free to Lynch, but of course being Andrew Stephens again, he did a David Copperfield on us and found a way to pay it the opposite way around.

Forwards pushing over defenders is largely a result of them being illegally held so often. We all know they need to avoid responding but it gets too much week after week. You see it all the time.

The problem here is incompetent adjudication of the game. If a forward gets held, and that doesn't just mean grabbing the jumper, how about when a defender holds and pushes the forward away from a marking contest, then they should get a free kick. It is a clear contravention of the rules. Plus, it happens in plain sight every week in every game.

de konning wasn't even watching the play - he was facing Lynch and holding & blocking his path. But what more do you expect from the incompetent umpire number 12.
