Will never be satisfied with this decision, mainly because it was wrong according to their own rules.

But they need to come clean on this. There is clearly no definitive camera angle, they need to admit when they f*ck up.

It just reinforces the amateurism and boys' club impression a lot of people have for the AFL. An organisation confident of its processes and run in a professional way would own up to mistakes, but that ain't the AFL.

All that Richmond fans are asking for is to see the so called video vision that unequally confirms that Lynch's shot at goal was a behind.

It's simple, show us the footage that the ARC used to overturn the umpires soft call and which the AFL said proved that it was a behind.

It's amazing, isn't it?

The ARC found this 'conclusive footage' in 90 seconds, yet here we are over a week later and still nothing has been produced.

I'm interested as to why we haven't heard anything more from our club.

After making such a public declaration of asking the AFL for more information, it seems strange to me we haven't had an update. I'd be interested in what communication they have had.
Didn't Dimma mention on 360 that he hadn't had any contact from AFLHQ in four years? Probably means he's still got at least another four years wait to hear back about the fARC review.

. Eddie Maguire, who has a financial interest in that technology, said on Footy Class. that the technology will be a lot better next year so we can only hope it will be,
Eddie at his finest, just polishing turds. Expensive ones, but that's why he's polishing them.

I think the vast majority of Tigers supporters and even a majority of neutral ones think the same.
It's clear though the AFL isn't going to come out and say anything of the sort as the consequences are enormous. Gambling companies, the finals series (imagine Brisbane win the flag from here!), their own credibility, not the least us. We'd have grounds to sue for loss of revenue.
No journo is going to try the case on behalf of the Tigers, none. Why? They'd probably find their media passes cancelled, their inside info dry up, they'd be shut off. That doesn't make them sycophants, that makes them realists.
The same reason you wouldn't go up to your own CEO or GM and say, you're an idiot. It's pretty easy to understand.
So whilst we're all pissed off at the outcome. We all know it's a lie, or unjust, nothing's going to change. There's too much-needed money involved.

I still don't understand what you expect him to do? Brad Scott isn't going to come on their show and discuss it, they went hard at it and were highly critical of it and gave Richmond a platform to do the same.

What else can they do? Ultimately it is flogging a dead horse because the AFL is going to say the official made the call and that's the end of it and they are right. Regardless of it being the wrong decision, once the call is made it is made and everyone has to cop it sweet, just the same as any other bad call.

As much as we hate the decision the rest of the footy world moves on.
The whole reason the ARC exists is to get more decisions correct and prevent controversy. It isn’t the same as a bad HTB or in the back. It’s whole purpose was to prevent howlers changing results.

This has changed the course of the finals. And you reckon they should just move on?

What else should the footy media turn a blind eye to? Accountability not important?

Agree. They need to be public with any discussions for their fans.

There is no vision. Everyone knows it. The as ARC guy was looking at the same vision we were on the TV. He bizarrely made his decision on Lynch's reaction I think.
I reckon you are correct. In the Sam Maclure article the ARC umpire made reference to player recidivists. That suggests they do watch player reactions closely.

I would be satisfied if they simply came out and said that’s what happened and we are doing our best to prevent it happening again.

I just don't know what else you can do but move on. The bloke in the ARC made a bad call. The AFL says they are happy with the call so they made a bad call as well. Or maybe they just took the heat for the bloke who made the mistake.

The game is done and dusted and the result isn't going to change. You can make a strong point about it, which I think the club and media did, but beyond that it just becomes beating your head against a wall I think.

Ultimately it's just the ups and downs of sport, just this time in the modern age.

Yeah, let's just walk away, and the next time it happens, let's walk away again. Doesn't matter that dodgy decisions change games, lead to a team being eliminated from the finals.

All fine, no standards.

Good enough for some it seems.

The behaviour you walk past, the standard you accept, becomes the acceptable standard.

My sentiments exactly.

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men/women to do nothing.

When it happens to a team that hasn't just won 3 flags the media will care. They seem to be being extra careful in the ARC now after this. They know they didn't follow their protocols properly.

All well and good, but do you think the AFL are going to change anything now, when we're into the third week of the finals this week?

Stuff the AFL. We need to put pressure for a full investigation. Where’s the footage and who reviewed the decision and signed off.

I think there was an opening for the AFL to say that "the ARC were correct, it was a point, but the over-rule was an error by the letter of the law and this will be reinforced with the ARC. They will not over-rule without conclusive video evidence. Anything less will be reverted to the field umpires".

I understand the result cannot change. But shouldn’t the AFL be concerned with assuring the public there is no corruption involved? I personally doubt it was a deliberate error (potentially fuelled by a bet?) but if they never explain how that decision was made there will be some lingering doubt. And what’s to stop it happening again?
