Nothing and I mean NOTHING will ever equal the disaster of trading pick 8 for Craig Biddiscombe. Still haunts me.

His first season at Richmond was ruined by hamstring injuries and he managed just four senior appearances.[3] In 2000 however he played 19 of a possible 22 games, as a half-back, and won Richmond's "Best Clubman" award.[3] He appeared in the first 10 rounds of the 2001 season but then injured his knee and didn't feature again for the rest of the year.[3] The rest of his time with Richmond was spent mostly in the reserves and he was delisted at the end of 2003.

Richmond gave Geelong pick eight in the 1998 National Draft, which was on-traded to the Sydney Swans, who used it to select Jude Bolton.[4]

Only cost us Jude Bolton o_O
What about Jared oakley Nicholls

Welcome TT. Let's hope this has the makings of Prestia mark 2 (maybe with slightly less injury) :)

seemingly not playing hard with the Taranto deal should hold us in good stead for the Hopper deal..
you'd imagine the relationship with GWS is on firm ground now
Could also mean that Gee Whizz know that we will bend over n give them what they want, when they want. Not expecting any freebies in the Grasshopper trade, just gotta pray that both these blokes provide us with full value over the rest of their careers. Long term contracts on very good shekels n no discount for buying in bulk.

Tim Kelly was probably regarded as one of the best mids in the comp when he was traded.
Neale was Freos best player behind Goldilocks.
Treloar was viewed as the best young kid at the time.

As I said im happy we got him because he fills a need but just think we paid overs considering they were also desperate for a salary dump.

Hopefully it works out for the best
What's the difference
Tarranto and we lose 2 picks
Or Higgins or Collier Dawkins,?
I say we paid unders shouldve given them another pick,

With the talk onpoints and the idea that 12+19 = 4.

If we had pick 4 would we trade that for 12 and 19?

Never in a month of Sunday twilight games.
They don't compare

They mean nothing unless your bringing in a FS or Academy kids.
Points mean shitt for everything else

There should be an arrest warrant out for Blair Hartley. Because he just robbed GWS blind
Pick 12 and Coleman Jones for Tarranto.
That's the trade of the century

The better question is would you draft a 24 yo gun in taranto before an unknown 18 yo if taranto was in the draft? Taranto has a much much higher chance of becoming a gun for us imo.

If this trade was picks #13 + #25 everybody would be saying be fleeced GWS
But its #13 + #21 and people are asking did we over pay

Its 4 spots

The excitement of Tarranto in saying he can't wait to play in front of the tiger army just shows how much these kids in small, no supporter clubs like GWS, GC & Geelong have missed out on.
Even Hopper said it be wants to play on the G in front of a crowd.
I think from now on we won't struggle to bring in players..we don't bring them in and then half way through we try to trade them out.
Collingwood will have a heap of issues in the future convincing kids to come over.
'Sign for 7 and we will *smile* you off in 3"

This year was the 1st big name X GWS player to win a flag after moving out of GWS in Cameron.
We have clocked GC with lynch Prestia & Caddy
And we had the pack buster Townsend from GWS.
But this is the 1st time we have had an top 5 GWS player come to us.
The others that have moved out from there have been horrendous Sheild, Smith, Treloar Patton The 30 that Carlton brought in.
Besides Steele @ Stkilda There really hasn't been an X GWS player that has gone on and been a success after leaving GWS.
We will find out.

What a talented all-round midfielder to bring in.
Right now, he is just very, very good at so many things.
Wins the hard ball and can get outside, runs defensively, makes and sticks tackles against big bodies, marks overhead when he has the right matchup and the one that few have.... consistently kicks goals when he goes forward.

If he doesn't improve, he is a very good addition. But imagine he does?

Due to the gaping hole in our midfield there is a scenario where a fit Taranto, who successfully rotated a lot forward at GWS, plays 90% midfield for us and averages high 20's even in our game style. And not soft, out the back possies, the ones that count with just a nice balance of inside/outside that are nicely complimented with clearances and tackles.

But the real booster will be if he improves his kicking a notch, cos' if he does, this guy is not just B&F material in a top team, he becomes a potential 25+ Brownlow vote getter.

judging by Jason McCartneys words this could well be the case ..

“Hopper being under contract is an advantage for us (GWS)
pursuing draft picks and players is a combination that needs to be explored”

I’m happy with just Taranto - especially since we’ve retained Graham. Don’t want to lose next year’s picks for Hopper. Want to maintain our position/tradition of using our first round picks and not giving them up in trades. Want to back in the development of one of our listed players to step up and become a key in the midfield. My money is on Sonsie. Don’t want minutes that could be used for his and Ross’ development (maybe Dow too) spent on Hopper. Don’t want to lose Soldo in any deal either - he’ll be a much better player next year - coming into his prime years.
