2022 Draft Thread

What do we have on Phoenix Foster? 196 ruck/Fwd. Norwood. Handy enough in air and lovely shot for goal.
Foster is the type who will benefit from the extended bench I would think, wouldn't be upset if we called his name.

These guys did a full mock up draft

Here's who they selected for Richmond:

50. Richmond - Blake Drury

Scully (#46) & Lemmey (#48) were already gone.

They also reckon we would be interested in Luke Teal (#54).

58. Richmond - Ted Clohesy .... ( apparently Geelong has said they won't be matching bids in the National Draft).

I like Dowling, he's a much better bet than D'Aloia who lacks athleticism. I don't think Dowling will be a grunt inside midfielder but I think he can provide a similar output to Shaun Grigg minus the ruck heroics. His workrate is one of the best in this draft class & he is a natural born leader. I suspect he would be demanding a few more headlines had it not been for a mediocre carnival by South Australia in general. I'm also totally fine going one tall & one small with our picks, there's also a few small forwards I think could be AFL quality, Seth Campbell & Archie Lovelock two I like with a late pick.

I know we are linked to Teal but isn’t he just another Banks & Brown type?

Don't really have any knowledge of the youngsters, but flicking through the reports of the youngsters just listed leaves me with a query.

We've only got a couple of late n speculative picks in the draft, because we've traded in a couple of quality mature mids. So why would we be looking at young mids with late draft selections this year??
Would have thought that the late picks would be an ideal time to speculate on a couple of potential K.P type players and then simply tuck them away in the magoos for a couple of years n see if perhaps one of them grows n blossoms into a decent player from 2025 / 2026 onward without the hype n pressure of instant expectation.

Trying to emulate what North did with Larkey and what the Hawks did with Mitch Lewis.

According to a poster on BF we have spoken to this kid on multiple occasions.

Our mantra is always best available at the draft. I assume the only time we might look at a tall over a small is if we have rated them the same in terms of talent.
