I know a few on here had mentioned we should try pry McAsey from. The Crows. He's notified the crows he doesn't have the passion to play OR IMPROVE so is retiring.

I'd be spewing if one of our top 5 picks gave it away by 21yo. Thats gotta hurt.

Poor athleticism for AFL. He looked very ordinary in the games I saw him play. Hopefully he's got a backup plan.

Saw him play plenty at Caulfield Grammar. Certainly didn’t lack for athleticism at that level where he was clearly the best big man going. Mostly played forward and would take a couple of big pack marks each week.
He never wanted to leave Melb and went to Crows when they were imploding.
I reckon his best spot would be like Gibcus. Intercept defender who can sneak forward.
Reckon he will play in the VAFA at Old Caulfield in Premier then get back as a rookie somewhere in Vic next year.

Was the crows highest ever draft pick. Probably only second to Danger.
That's deflating for the club on the eve of the season

Guy McKenna, the newly appointed coach at Old Caulfield, will be good for his development.

Geez, has any club ever lost a grand final so badly it ruined their recruiting? Once upon a time the crows could consistently find talent anywhere in the draft, now seem to consistently find duds despite years of first round picks.

Anyway, good on McAsey for pulling the plug when he knew his heart wasn’t in it. Would have been easy to coast along for another 2-3 years on good coin before Adelaide finally grew a pair and delisted him.

Big difference playing school footy v NAB Cup.

Where did he play for the dragons? Mostly back. He was bigger than most and relied on size. Drafted as a key defender.

Did you watch him fro the crows? Very average. And it's not like there wasn't a spot there for the taking. Lacked the athleticisim required now.

Hope he gets back to enjoying his footy.

What was his sanfl form like in 2023 ?

Is it football or the Crows that he doesnt want to be around

Offer him a spot in our VFL team

I reckon it's a tactic to get out of SA and the Cows, and to find a Vic club. Bit more low key than Horny did.

Why are people so keen on getting him to Richmond? He's done nothing to indicate he's worthy and we've just drafted Tylar Young.

Maybe the Cats will seduce him with the Moe By The Sea Lyfestyle and a new house and a few acres on the Surf Coast.

No Passion to play OR Improve sounds pretty damning and emphatic from the young fella.

Yeah, that was the language I picked up on. Just doesn't have the desire to work as hard as is required.
He's done.
