As I mentioned in the Hopper post, Hopper did a nice long kick to Lynch in a 1-on-1 contest with Weitering.

Now the Play Of The Day for mine is Taranto coming in from Lynch's right as Hopper kicks the ball.

1679194367550.png

Taranto has broken away from his opponent, moving closer to the Lynch/Weitering battle,
Taranto looks directly at Lynch/Weitering, working out what he should do

1679194510038.png

And Taranto decides his best option is to stick himself between Lynch and Weitering causing some disturbance

1679194545154.png

Now he's between Lynch and Weitering, remembering a couple of frames earlier, Weitering was all over Lynch’s body one-on-one
Lynch has some space now to do his thing.

1679194603337.png

Because of Taranto’s move, Lynch has 3-4 steps on Weitering, Taranto's opponent is 5 metres away to our right ball watching

1679194683263.png

Weitering by now has to start scampering to get around Taranto as Taranto had the smarts to get himself in-between their contest

1679197558205.png

Taranto's move has given Lynch all the time he needs to take the mark and tie the game up

Old matey on the left here clearly not wanting any body contact

Old matey on the left is catching flies or clapping Lynch’s mark :ROFLMAO:

Well done Tim Taranto, great footy smarts and that’s how you impact a contest off the ball
Taranto or Rioli for the 3 or 2, take your pick who you like, but a great start for the Tigers statistically and impact wise by Tim Taranto (y)

We’ll tickle me with a feather (anywhere).
That is some post, Rice pudding. Magnificent editing and formatting.
Your frame by frame summary might get you a job in the ARC. It’s far better .
Well done

Great summary there. Taranto's direct opponent in that play was McGovern, who is an absolutely clueless defender. He messes up in these tight situations regularly. But his weakness was beautifully exploited here by Taranto, who provided some perfectly legal screening, on his way to ending up in a useful position in case the ball got over the back. For Young and McGovern not to impact Lynch's body there was really poor defence.
Imagine paying $800k pa to that clown McGovern to go around making clueless match losing plays like that.

All that said, yet another massive clutch mark by Lynch and well converted this time. And a classic screen from Taranto as well. Lynch for mine is the best KPF in the AFL right now.

Brilliant breakdown. Thanks for this, heard the commentators praising him for getting his body between Lynch and Weitering but couldn’t see it properly on replay

Very very good - no media picked that up. Amazed Cornes didn’t.
Oh yeah, on Footy Classified Cornes said Taranto wasted the footy and needs to get better - and he is on ‘watch.’ Also that he didn’t think he deserved coaches votes

On Cornes - didnt think he deserved coaches votes. How does he think he can judge who the coaches value?
The coach thinks he played well, Cornes can disagree But to say doesnt deserve it is maddening.
Anyway back on Tarantino. Played a very good game

Well looking at the breakdown of votes it looks likely that both coaches gave him votes. Too bad Cornes knows more than the coaches then
