It's hard putting a KPI on drafting . We seemed to pick skinny ass kids forever, but were saved by our VFL players. Young, Tresize. and Bauer Coulthard types

Gibcus, sonsie had a great debut year . B
Gibcus injured, sonz lost form.
Clarke can play.
Massively underrated. Clarke has done really well with limited access to high draft picks. I don’t think judging the value of a recruiter necessarily lines up with the value of a team’s list.

Look at the giants and hawks who have been used as examples of great recruiting- heaps of first round picks, smelly melly - a first rounder at pretty much every position on every line. They were bound to get it right at some point.

Give me Clarke or the bloke form Collingwood who build a competitive list from throw outs at the tip shop any day of the week. He will be a massive loss if he goes.

We can't have 5 picks and only 1 or maybe 2 into players. Thats 1990's drafting not 2023 drafting.
TOo many misses since 2010.
we shouldve been rejuvenating on the run but the same blokes have dropped us into the bottom 4.
How can GWS find Sam Taylor or Brett Daniels with picks in the 20's but we get Collier Dawkins and Coleman Jones types??
let Clarke go and go after the Sydney bloke and the Brisbane bloke who seem to hit gems.
Brisbane picked a kid in the 20's who on the weekend kicked 5 in a practice match.
They got Bailey we got Higgins.
Not good enough
The Sydney bloke just purely because of the drafting of Warner and to a lesser degree, Glyden.
Both of those clubs have exclusive access to academy talent , our blokes built a dynasty that won 3 afl flags and a VFL , their work is u unsurpassed with a ,large part of our team filled by rookie spots , spare me the lovefest over the academy recruiters they got nuthin

Favourite to replace departed West Coast list boss emerges

A trio of names are in contention for the role.

West Coast's hunt for a new list manager has reportedly narrowed to three leading contenders, with Richmond's head recruiter said to be the front-runner to replace the departed Rohan O'Brien.

According to The West Australian, Clarke is viewed as the early favourite to replace O'Brien, coming ahead of GWS recruiting manager Adrian Caruso and Adelaide recruiting strategist consultant Binuk Kodituwakku.

You do know we took Balta in the 20s? And Bolton in the 20s the year before?
And Brisbane drafted Witherden and Cox with 2 picks a few before Bolton was taken?
And Sydney took Matthew Ling (who?) the pick before Zac Bailey was taken, and before Taylor, Balta, Allen etc.
And GWS took Aiden Bonar the pick before Ling. And took Setterfield, Cumming and Perryman all before Bolton.

And those 3 teams have won ZERO premierships in the last 15 years. And we have won 3 in the last 7.

But keep banging that drum.

He should get sacked on the back of that decision
We’ve been over that

Firstly there is no guarantee we would have picked Holmes if we had kept our pick
Secondly you are writing off Tom Brown way too early, how do you know he won’t turn out to be a better player?
Finally how do you know it was his decision?

In 2019 Taylor took dynamic small K Pickett with #12. McKenzie took midfielder Day with #13. (Day might be close to finished due to head trauma.)

In 2023 McKenzie took dynamic small forward Watson at #5. Taylor took Caleb Windsor with #7. A little byplay between them.

Melbourne seemed to reach for Windsor.
Will be interesting viewing

They're pumping up his preseason, DA. Looks an interesting prospect. If the hype is to be believed he'll debut R0 or whatever number is first.

Are you a fan? (I quite liked his form on the replays of the Championships. But that might amount to a pot.)

Please stop it. Enough.

We can't let facts get in the way of a good rant. PRE would fall apart if that was the basis for anything.

In all honesty I haven’t seen enough of him, but studying the form, he didn’t come into my top 12 calculations a few weeks out from the draft.
Seemed to come with a bullet.
Jason Taylor brave to leave Curtin and Caddy on the table imho however they may not have fitted a need.
