He actually did a really good job in an environment where protecting favourite sons was the priority. I reckon he knew jettisoning SOS was going to cost him his job but it was the best thing for the club.
Was very highly thought of at RFC.
Other candidates;
- Ian Robson ex Hawks, Bombers, Melb Victory
- Simon Matthews current COO (I believe he is the succession plan the club/AFL have in place)
- Dave Matthews CEO of Giants
There will be heaps of guys polishing up their resumes
No to Robson. He was in charge during the drugs debacle at Essendon. Have met him - struck me as a bit arrogant. Maybe just self confidence to be fair. But lacked for none at the time.

Dan Jackson would be an excellent appointment. An ex Tiger with a JDM who has a strong academic background and a strong commitment to player welfare.
Would continue to run the place as it has been, willing to take advice and with no sense of self likely to trip him up.
Young enough and smart enough to grow while he learns.

It is one thing

To drain a half courter on the buzzer

Like we did as a club in 2017, 2019 and 2020

But to announce to the comp

That you are going to do it beforehand

Takes balls of pure steel

Benny is an absolute badass

Looks like Benny getting his house in order (moving Balmey on) before he too moves on.
Pretty sure he would have a detailed succession plan formulated for his own replacement.
A canny operator. Making the ruthless calls.
Another domino may have fallen.
Saved the club. Now it's time.

Benny might need to make sure that the Tas team still goes ahead after next weeks state erections before he quits at Punt rd. Lots of opposition to that fancy mega expensive stadium over there.

I can't see the board handing over a multi million dollar, complex, multi faceted business to someone presently running messages and cultural programs at Adelaide.
That's not meant to be disrespectful to Dan Jackson BTW, and if by chance he were appointed then he must have the credentials...... unlikely in my opinion.

He won’t be the most experienced possible appointee. But if his qualities such as they are, suggest that he would make the best ceo over time, then he just might get it.
A bit like the appointment of Cotch.

Place needs a succession plan. Apprentice him to Benny for a year n then let him take over if Benny's got plans of moving on.

Doesn’t look like we have a year left, but if they like him for the job u would expect Brendon to give at least 6 months notice?

Wow, haven't lived in Australia for a while; I shudder to think what gets the entire population of Tasmania aroused.
