Freo have 3 1st rounders.
They're are shiit as us and will finish under us.
So pick 4,5 or 6 for Baker you cannot turn down.
You do realise Zippers that 2 of those 3 first rounders are tied to Colonwood n Ports selections in the draft. They're not very likely to be in the top 10 picks

Yeah, I think that race has already been run and won.

Holmes is and will very likely remain a far superior player to Brown for the duration of their careers.

Blair and Clarke got Wells'd.

Won't be the first or last. Can't blame us for not keeping the pick and taking a guy at 20 who had played one TAC game.

Imagine the blow up on here if we did that.

Yep, the decision to trade the pick is not what hurts. It’s what we subsequently used the pick on that stings. One solitary game in three years.

Geez, we haven’t gotten much right in terms of draft and trades in the last 5 years.

The way Collingwood is going pick 4
I reckon Collingwood will have a shitt year and finish way down the ladder.
Pick 6-15 for Baker we should be singing.

Turnover is simply that, it's money churn n not that important. The relevant number is profit from $ turned. Moggies own their stadium and the reserved seating n advertising $ that goes with it. Reckon they'd also have way less input factor in gaining some of their sponsorship deals being a one club regional area.
Absolutely rubbish spoken from naivety, it's Absolutely vital and who gets guranteed grand final tickets, let me tell u it's bigger paying memberships.
The Club was broke from the 1990s until benny came ,we went from bottom 4 turnover to top 4,and success comes with it.

Id say our drafting and recruitment has been the worst in the competition since 2020. Shizenhausen

Yeah absolute zips chance we were going to pick Holmes if we didn't trade.
The pick was a cats classic local selection and all clubs were Wells'd.

The trade though was value. Pick 20 one year for pick 17 the next.

You do know Brown has only been on the list for 2 years, yeah?
He players we picked in that draft is not the issue IMHO...
You can't get them all right...hopefully Brown, sonz, gibcus, clarke etc make it...
The question is...
Do we prefer to have hopper and taranto (2 well above average 25-26 yr olds), or 4 youngsters picked in the top 30...

That was the question two years ago It's irrelevant and redundant now.

May not be the right thread, probably already been done, and knowing the nature of this, I could be wrong,

in the wash up,

we got Tarranto, Hopper, and Green

gave up picks that netted: Hewitt, Gruzewski, McMullin, Curtin

Yes that's it. I think Cal Twomey said the Eagles were prepared to swap their first this year with the pick used to get Curtin so we may have done that deal too.

That is correct...
The relevance is:
The importance of knowing where your at in order to pull the correct lever...
We thought we were in a position to continue to contend....
Whereas the reality was we were starting a rebuild...
If we had clarity on our position would we have pulled the same lever?
Definitely a question for a Blair thread.
The other point is:
Recognising the position if the club your dealing with:
They had 2 players ready to slot into Tim's and Jacobs positions...
Green and Callaghan...
That being the case, could we have been less generous with our draft hand...
1 1st rounder for Tim...
1 1st rounder for Jacob or a 2nd rounder.
Would have bought in the 2 players in question and left us with a stronger draft hand.
Let's learn from past decisions, in order to make better ones going forward.

There would have been a lot more to that deal though. It wouldn't have been Pick 1 for Pick 8. It probably included at least a future 1st and probably something else, as if it was just Pick 8 and a future 1st then I don't see why Adelaide would have turned it down. Harley Reid or Curtin and a pick around 10.

Correct, and Cornes stated that the 1st was Busslinger, not sure if he was stating that as it suited his narrative better of if he simply made a mistake, you just don't know with him as facts turn to opinion with that guy, but Busslinger was taken the pick before what our pick would have been, our 12 turned into 14.

Yeah but it doesnt turn out that way as you know.

Leysy would bet his left one that with our list needs and what we like in key position players we would have taken Nate Caddy ahead of Curtin.

Are you saying that's good or bad? I would have taken caddy over Curtin.
