Coburg, Melbourne
Coburg: 4-3, 6-4, 10-6, 12-8-80
BoxHill: 2-3, 6-3, 8-4, 11-9-75

Goals: Whyman 4, Vardy 3, Houlihan 2,
Bidders, Pettifer Tremellin 1.

Obviously, Pettifer played - Rogers didn't.

Time to get some beers.

ANy reports on how Matt Shir went?

And who coached them? was it Spargo?

Shir went OK, not as prolific as in the previous weeks -
so down from there. In fact, he was probably the best of the RFC players last week, but as that game should be erased from history for all time, we wont judge him as harshly. The best of the Richmond players
was amonst Houlihan and Vardy, with Hyde chucked
in there as well. Overall, I'd put the old reliables
as best (Carlson and to a lesser extent Talbot - Depasquale didn't seem to be in it as much as usual though. Whyman ("Jars") was obviously very active for Coburg as well - I dunno why this little dynamo was
in the reserves for so long after a promising start
earlier in the year.
Bidders and Dragga were getting in there, but not as much as their fellow RFC players above.
Pickering who? Sipthorp who? didn't see a real lot of
them from our limited vantage point - but I suspect they got some game time. Pickering did appear up forward for a short time.
Plus I was distracted by a fellow Coburg spectator that
continually bagged Pettifer very loudly - hard to watch
and laugh and listen as well as keep an eye on things
;D

Pettifer took a speckie. Apart from kicking a
crucial goal in the last quarter, his other attempts at
goal kicking were Richoesque. One miss from 25m, one
out on the full from 20m straight in front. An early snap
made it in for a behind as well. So he probably would
have kept up his "average" 3 or 4 for Coburg had
things gone slightly better for him.

And yes, Spargo did coach them. In fact his 3q time
speil was quite good (see what being in front can
do). It was along the lines of the Boxhill mob not
having any respect for Coburg (true) and that they
probably didn't think that Coburg were worthy of
being on the same football field as them (true - Boxhill
are up themselves!) and that the only way to teach
them was to beat them. Worked quite well I thought.
Plus, there were specific instructions for the various
players.
