Disaster.

Obviously won too many matches.
Not in keeping with the recent mantra of cheating, lying and losing.
Great move (not) getting rid of a guy who lives and breathes cricket.
Thanks JL for everything.
Mill be a massive loss.
Now would he be vindictive enough to walk straight to mother England and head up their programmes with the sole purpose of bringing down and destroying Australian cricket?
Wouldn't blame him if he did.

Now back to the Australian side of things.
Case of the tail wagging the dog?
How precious these modern day players must be.
I can't go to JL's training today I've got a cleansing detox aromatherapy and nails session with the darl.

Massive *smile* up by Cricket Australia.
Who would want the job, seriously?

The NSW cartel of players, the head of CA and with the help of Malcolm Conn pushing the media barrow have white anted Langer.

Expect another NSW person who CA fawn over Bayliss to at least take over the white or red ball national teams.

CA and Cricket in this country is just another socially engineered mess.

Tail Wagging the Dog again.

Good on JL!! A hero of Aussie Cricket, unlike many of those getting around of recent times.

good decision. like it or not the players matter most.

this is cummins' team, not JL's.

people point to results - i say watch the results get even better. langer is a suffocator, pure and simple.

we shoulda beaten india here. that still rankles.

Yep, same Carts. Langer's coaching record is not great. Lost a home series to India's reserves. Beat one of the weakest England teams we've seen - but should have beaten them 4-0 in 2019 and instead fell over patting ourselves on the back with a 2-2 draw. Finch and McDonald masterminded the T20 triumph.

Not to say CA doesn't stink to high heaven too. They appointed him, without due process, despite him having been assistant coach of the poor culture and having never even taken WA to a Shield final, let alone win one.

After an afternoon thinking about this and sharing a few text message conversations, feeling really angry.

Regardless of whether he is a good coach or a bad one, he didn't deserve to be treated in this manner. Throughout his career he has given his heart and soul to Australian Cricket, never more so than as coach when he has worked tirelessly and without complaint despite the heavy toll Covid restriction have had on his family as a WA family.

The manner in which this has been handled is every bit as unAustralian as underarm or sandpaper. It is a blight on the sport and the CA board and executive should resign.
Well said Large Son of Bull.

Langer is an Aussie Test Hero and half of one of Australia's greatest Opening Partnerships in history and a keystone of one of the greatest sides in the history of Australian Cricket, playing in an era which still had some of the worlds very best against them.

Poorly Played by ACB or CA or whatever they are called these days.

I thought under arm n sand paper were exclusively Australian. Wouldn't be the first time in sport that the players and / or the board have shafted a coach, seems to be fairly Australian too.

Bloody pathetic from the board that they didn't have the agates to simply sack J.L. Offered the bloke a six month contract extension n then prayed he'd feel insulted / under mined n quit of his own accord. Gutless slime balls can then sit back n forever deny sacking him.

Yeah, offering a 6 month contract? Grow a spine and either offer 2 years or sack him, make a decision and have the guts to implement it.

Just ruminating out loud about the Langer situation. He was dragged in out of desperation over the sand paper saga n how obnoxious the Aussie team was seen to have become over recent years.
Under Langer's and Paine's influence they've become at least on the surface a far more civilized n well behaved team while also recently performing well and dominating games.

Now there's no Langer, no Paine yet half the squad involved in sand paper gate are still in the team n are the experienced mature leader type players, and it's already fairly obvious they weren't putting much effort into supporting their coach.
Wondering how long it will take these blokes to revert to previous form if things get a bit tough n tight during a couple of sub continent tours. Got me a feeling the old ugly Aussie cricketer will be poking his head up for a look around before the end of 2022.

If I’ve read the tour schedule correctly, they basic offered him a contract for a T20 series against Sri Lanka and a tour series against Pakistan? ( I don’t know what happens with the series against the kiwis on at the same time as the one against Pakistan).
Then CA goes through this crap all over again to decide who coaches for the World Cup in October?
Pretty *smile* planning by the authorities and very shitty treatment of a great of Australia cricket

Nah mate sport rightly doesn't work like that.

You can't give the credit on your wins to other people and just the losses to the coach. Pure bias.

It's one or the other.

Also don't downplay retaining the ashes in england. We've been belting up the poms at home for a decade but it was the first time in 20 years we've gone there and came back with the urn. It's not easy.
