Cricket

Unique character is Smith , asking what he was given out for when he was plumb LBW , once again hes put Australia in a winning position .

Not sure what his plans on retirement, however like any champion he’ll be impossible to replace .

Poms are idiots. Only had to last 5 overs-Duckett out for 25 off 15 balls. Crazy stuff.

Its certainly going to be an interesting watch to see how we approach day 5. The chase is pretty much impossible (need like 5.5 an over for 90 overs), so what approach do they take, try and see out the day, play the aggressive option. There is still batting to come, with Pope, Brook, Stokes, Smith and Woakes we probably can see the game out, but I'm not sure playing defensive comes naturally to many of them, they are all relatively aggressive batsmen. Smart money would clearly be on India.

I just don't understand how we can have players at this level unwilling to properly use footwork. So many dismissals from planted feet and reaching at the ball.

I know this sounds like keyboard warrior stuff, but it was the first thing we were taught in kanga cricket and the SACA programs. Meet the ball by using your feet. Get to the line of the ball and give yourself a chance to control your shot.
Yep very elementary flaws in the modern day Aussie batsmen. Too many easy roads in the one day game has been a part of this change in batsman stance.

Gill’s match aggregate of 430 (269, 161) is the second highest ever behind Gooch’s 456 against India in 1990.

The 14 year old prodigy Suryavanshi is playing for India U19 against England
143 off 78 in a 50 over match, 10 sixes.
Rocky Flintoff also made 100

Well done Australia on the series win in the West Indies.
I am still not convinced Cam Green is a top order batsman.
The selectors seem determined to stay the course with Cam.
I think that when the Summer Season starts Cam should play as much red ball Cricket as possible, opening the batting for his district club and Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield.
The after match show thinks Josh Hazlewood maybe injured, so hopefully Scotty Boland has a really good match in the third test.

Well done India on beating the Twos and Froms in the Second Test.
The Indian selectors have a big dilemma, do they change a winning side?
The 3rd Test at Lords should be a ripper.

We need two openers for the third test. It's a dead rubber and even try Marnus as he couldn't do any worse than Usman and Sam.

Their top order performed but they picked an unusual side.
Only 4 top order batters, a wicketkeeper/batsman at 5, 3 all rounders at 6,7 and 8 and 3 quicks.
It worked out well this time because they made a heap of runs. Nitish only bowled 6 overs for the match.

Didn’t realise there was another one dayer played yesterday:
