Agree on all counts but ‘lacking motivation’ is one I wouldn’t be shocked by.

I've typed out 6 replies and deleted them all because last time I tried to explain this season I got worked up and shared information I shouldn't have.

So all I'll say this time is I don't think that is the case. This year has been a mess for lots of reasons, some that were avoidable and I am very confident next year will be better and we will see the champ back to a very high standard.

At Richmond?

I think there is only one very specific set of circumstances that would see him seek a trade and I'd be very surprised if Richmond allowed it to occur.

I'd have him 95/5 to be here forever.
He is a great player, but no way we extend his contract "forever"

I don't actually understand the talk about how much we pay Dusty. The deal was 7 years, we signed him because he is so damned good. I'm sure there was a distribution of the amount for each year to fit with salary caps and other contracts, so what we pay him in 2022 cannot be seen in isolation from other years. In any case, the deal was a total amount over the length of the contract really.

We all know Dusty was not at his best in 2022. There is the fact he is older, and the team is not as good as it was a couple of years ago. This is important because, as Dimma has pointed out on a number of occasions, Dusty can do what he does because other players are doing their jobs around him. Martin has never been a particularly defensive player, but that ain't what is asked of him, he is there to take attacking risks and break open games.

Then you have to add in the kidney injury, losing his father and the late season hamstring injury. All of these factors are significant on their own, add them together and it is hard to see the player having a good season.

Yes, Dusty was a bit quiet last night. But I thought he looked a bit less like he was carrying extra weight, although it is hard to compare TV vision to live vision.

I just hope he is happy to stay at Richmond and that football can bring him some happiness after what must have been a hard year.

I reckon if GC were serious, you would allow the move. Noone in the GC gives a shiit about football. He would be left alone.
1.3 Mil that's 2 really good players.
I wouldn't stop him IF he did decide to move

The most disappointing aspect for me was hearing the Brisbane crowd booing Dusty when he took a mark or gathered the ball in general play. Why? No respect for a great player shown by brainless supporters who believe the gutter press headlines. After all he's been through he must have been wondering what he's done to deserve this? At least he's got Emma to help him.

1. Video was from 2017
2. Sleeve full of tatts on both arms didn’t have full sleeve in 2015
3. Was an event richmond conducted
4. Yeah girl looked unfazed but does that make it right?
5. Where in the video does Dusty ask if he could touch her tits?
6. No consent means sexual harassment by Aussie laws
7. Negus didn’t leak it a fake Twitter account did media just doing their job by reporting news like they did with DeGoey
8. Just because it’s Dusty or any other richmond player don’t make it right
9. Doubt Peggy or Benny or Balmey would agree with half of these comments in this thread.
10. Half of you wanted De Goey head

Shows more on how desperate this tabloid is by wanting to report, or more like expose, something that happened half a decade ago. Let's just hope the AFL see it was at a function with a stripper and close the door on it. Do they think Dusty would be dumb enough to take 5 years to 'learn his lesson'.
Why does it matter when it happened. Facts are it happened facts are there was no permission facts are that’s deemed as sexual harassment.

Bit of a difference between Dusty and De Goey. DG happened just months after another similar incident and they were real time. Dusty is 6/7 years ago. Stupid thing to do however would have grown up and been exposed to significant material/training/real life exposure to the objectification of women since. I doubt Dusty would enter an environment like that these days let alone touch a women like that. Some of those in the media need to think about there own skeletons.

Not sure how you punish him retrospectively.
Time doesn’t matter!!!!!! Assault or harassment of a women or man is illegal and who cares when it happened doesn’t mean it’s right

Dusty is staying will have the pre season to re focus and hit the season fit.

Throw in Taranto possibly and more improvement from Daniel, Bolton, a fit Lynch, Nankervis, Dylan, Balta, and Dion, another pre season into Cumberland, Moju, Stackie and the Sonz and things look much better.

We still have the chance of challenging again.

I’ll follow Dimma and respect what Dusty wants to do. As a contracted player it’s all in his hands.
He’s aged 31 and
If we got Taranto and hopper somehow then it would be good for our next season and beyond

Everytime my lizard brain entertains notions of farming him out for two first rounders, that laser/dainty 40m pindrop to Riewoldt replays again in my frontal cortex. No one NO ONE else in the comp hits that kick. NO. ONE.

They’re booing him because historically the lions have been Dustys b1tch.

Couldn't agree more. And the moron Brisbane supporters (in the minority I might add) after the game who were rubbishing his game and character. Very low I reckon after what he has brought to the game.

There were some in the media and social media questioning him playing on Thursday night but to me there was no choice but to play him.
Sure he was underdone and probably what we saw from him was all we could expect but if we were ever a realistic chance to pinch a flag Dusty needed to be in the team and for him to be firing late in September he needed game time.
I have no doubt it was the right decision to play him. I also have no doubt he will be at Richmond next season.

Most of all I hope for his own sake, not just for that of our team, that he can get himself back on track personally. Losing his Dad was a tragedy in itself but when I look at the circumstances if it was me there would anger as well. His Dad was exiled from Australia and he hardly saw him for years.

While I would love Dusty to finish his career with the Tiges, after all he has done :cupgold:cupgold:cupgold for the RFC, I want Dusty to do what is best for him.

As King said yesterday morning, an 80% Dusty is better than the 23rd or 24th player in the list. He also said that if a player has done all that is required at training and been ticked off by the medical staff then they should be considered 100% fit and ready to be selected.
