DVD interferes with TV picture

Anyone help on this one? I have a home theatre system, but whenever I turn on the DVD so that I can watch TV with the all around sound, the quality of the picture degrades — enough to make it not worth the trouble.
Seems to be related to the proximity of the DVD player to the TV, but I can't move the DVD player into the next room just for that.
Any ideas?

Dean sounds like the DVD player is interfering with you TV's RF modulator. I think the only way to rectify this is to move your DVD player or shield it in lead. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
