Jack Dyer Medal 2021

If shorty won back2back JD's, it would cheapen the award IMO.

and i think Graham or Bakes winning it would also highlight what a poor year we really had.

i think JR would be a deserving winner.

id give it to Cotchy if it was down to me. Played 17 games. Reckon hes a smokey

whose gonna win the PRE award?

Imagine if Jayden Short joined Dustin Martin and Jack Riewoldt as a two-time JD Medallist in one of our greatest eras. As many B&Fs as Dale Weightman, Maurice Rioli, Matthew Knights, Royce Hart and Jack Titus. I would agitate for an EGM to change the voting process to restore the BEST aspect. The award is already cheapened just by the way they vote. Bring the BEST back to the BEST and Fairest.

Rancey only won 1 as well.

Injuries will have a major influence on who wins it this year. I wonder if there is any merit to perhaps adjusting the format to account for injuries in the future (like say perhaps your best 15 performances for the year count towards your tally). Not advocating for this but just a thought to navigate injury plagued seasons.

no matter who wins, it will be the lowest votes polled since this system has been introduced.

such a poor season individually (and collectively)

Was going to say if Short wins this year it would be an even bigger surprise than last year. You have gone hard with cheapen....
I think Grimes has been a stalwart this year. B and Fs aren't meant to be lifetime achievement awards but without him we would have lost more games and more by more.

Its like Most Resilient or some such... like the idea of making it best 15 (one of our stats gurus would be able to work out if that would change placings in recent years)

Or Most Consistent at local clubs (do they still award them?) I always thought I was a chance, played the same low level all season.

Yes between George, Arts and Parker. Actually can't pinpoint a player who has had a career best year or been consistent. Maybe the guy with the winery out Macedon way would be the most worthy winner!

Given the voting system I expect the two Jacks to fight it out. A bit inconsistent but saw enough to believe Baker Shai, Stacky and Dan will all be contenders next season.

Contenders:

Short - 22 Games, 24.6 disposals per game, 1 goal, 39 tackles, 151 R50s, 50 I50s
Baker - 22 Games, 20.2 disposals per game, 7 goals, 61 tackles, 39 R50s, 65 I50s
Graham - 22 Games, 19.0 disposals per game, 11 goals, 122 tackles, 21 R50s, 86 I50s
Riewoldt - 22 Games, 10.9 disposals per game, 51 goals, 38 tackles, 1 R50, 51 I50s
Grimes - 21 Games, 13.6 disposals per game, 0 goals, 47 tackles, 47 R50s, 15 I50s
Bolton - 20 Games, 19.6 disposals per game, 23 goals, 55 tackles, 6 R50s, 96 I50s
Cotchin - 17 Games, 20.7 disposals per game, 2 goals, 57 tackles, 27 R50s, 57 I50s
McIntosh - 17 Games, 15.5 disposals per game, 1 goal, 41 tackles, 33 R50s, 47 I50s
Martin - 16 Games, 22.6 disposals per games, 19 goals, 36 tackles, 3 R50s, 84 I50s
Broad - 14 Games, 16.4 disposals per game, 0 goals, 17 tackles, 48 R50s, 21 I50s

My guess is that the top 10 consists of the above players. Broad to be leading when he goes down with injury - but may slip out due to games missed in the end.

Not a great season at all.

Either Riewoldt Graham Baker and possibly Bolton to win. Hopefully not Short, don't think he is yet worthy to be a 2 time JD winner.

This is a good list. I think the top 6 is set in stone of the top 6 listed here in some different order.

Will be exciting to see who the least worst Richmond player was this year! Can't wait

After Short won it last year I have no idea who will win it.
Whilst Jayden had a good year, the coaches clearly look at different criteria than most of us in the stands do.
Personally I too would love to see Dylan win it but my votes had Shai as the clear winner.

I cannot see a deserving winner. Perhaps David Bourke? If push came to shove I'd like to see Bakes get it.
