It’s just weird that Ross doesn’t spend more time as an inside mid. Burst onto the scene as a genuine inside midfielder. Generally dominates in that position at VFL and was arguably our best player in round 23 last year again in that role.

For a team crying out for big bodied inside bull, Ross at 187cm and 85kg seems to tick a few of those boxes.

We know he's outside. He levelled up because for the first time in his career he was damaging with the ball. By hand. And insightful. And he came through a line.

This unusual behaviour puts lie to what we all thought was an established fact - that Jack Ross has no growth in him.

Furthermore while many of us have lamented for some time that Jack Ross does not get his hands dirty the MC just won a point. Because Ross improved in his outside role.

It may come to pass that Ross was always a potato but it is also possible that we've missed something in him. Does he lack physical confidence? Maybe we misread this. Is he gaining some?

5 loose gets. Daniel Rioli got 3. Short got 0. Hugo got 5.

4 score involvements was ok. 3 turnovers. 10 pressure acts. 0 tackles.

He's 21yo for this season. I hope he keeps his spot this week.

Yep still scope for improvement in Ross, his love for the club should at least afford him a bit more respect than the constant bagging of a 21 year old whether he makes it or not.

Been good tonight - need to keep playing him on field and not the sub, getting better every game.

Solid performance.
Want to see him play more as a pure mid
Did far better than some of his more accomplished team mates.

Has been good the last couple of weeks, good on him.

Have liked his ball handling, doesn't panic, and has used the quite well, going at mid 80's disposal efficiency the last 2 games.

folks are happy with 'tidy' but I'd rather see Pickett / Banks or Pickett / Kmac

Ross just doesn't offer enough offensively - yes, even Kmac offers more.

He finds the football. It is pretty *smile* important. Had many many teammates who don’t seem to be able to do it. Not only does he find it, his disposal not as bad as everyone makes out, Makes one error everyone on him for some reason. Others make 3- 4 and don’t hear the same

He needs to improve decision making/execution. Not all the time, but too often he's putting a teammate under the pump or putting the onus on them to fix up his disposal (e.g. not kicking to the lead speed correctly or handballing 1m short, or too loopy etc)

Interesting. This year Ross has had 3.8 score involvements per game, KMac 1.8. Pretty massive difference even taking into account any bias.

Kmac is agricultural by foot but his kicking has more penetration that Ross

Ross is a classic up and under. his delivery by hand is often at team mates feet. he is Dan Jackson before Dan Jackson got miraculously better. complete momentum killer.
