Been good again tonight.
Looks a reasonable prospect - mobile, has skill, can take a grab.
Still cannot fathom why Richmond looked but passed in last years trade period, particularly when he was going for virtually nothing (pick 77).
An irrational error of judgement and a cross against Matthew Clarke, and yet another against Blair.

Our recruiters don't rate him. Exact words recently were "yet to be convinced'

Did go OK tonight. Might be zips' best ever call.

Always struck me as having the height of a second tall with the game of a third tall. When Hooker's running amok and kicking five in a half as a foil to Daniher, you'd be disappointed if he didn't get off the chain.

Dunno.

I'm not saying Stewart is any great shakes but to say there were no KPPs for us to recruit last off season seems pretty naive.

Here's a footy wire comparison between Stewart and one the many here bizarrely want in Levi Casboult:
http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/ft_player_compare?playerStatus1=A&tid1=6&playerStatus2=A&tid2=4&type=A&pid1=3821&pid2=3417&fid1=C&fid2=C

Stewart out performs Casboult in most areas EXCEPT marks (Levi averages 2 more a game) and HO (Levi averages 4 more a game)

And of course it goes without saying Stewart outperforms Elton......

Casboult's a much better contested mark and despite being known as a shocking kick, has a better conversion rate than Stewart. My preference for Casboult is more for his ability to stand tall in a pack around goal and at least bring the ball to ground. Not that he's a must-have by any stretch.

But that is the bizarre thing.
Stewart is his debut year played us at the G and showed more in 6 minutes than Elton has in 6 years.
A young tall, athletic and skilful, who understandably couldn't get a game in front of Cameron, Patton and Lobb.
He was free last year to a good home.
Richmond had a desperate need for kpf's.
And yet we were "yet to be convinced".
Lol.

Damn there is only so many spots on the list. If your only criteria is that the player has to show more ability in 6 minutes than Elton has in 6 years then the line to train in the RFC gym will be round the block.
And that's obviously not Elton's problem by the way.

So Casboult is better at the big guy stuff.

That's probably why people prefer him....

Stewart's a good young player, not going to be a world beater.

The frustration is he went for nothing and would've been very handy this season. Can we continue to win with one tall forward and into finals? Remains to be seen but we have to pray for no injuries to any tall.

The club did nothing to address the tall forward issue in the offseason. Now we're super desperate and everyone knows we're desperate.

It is funny that Casboult goes at a much higher DE%, 69.1 to 61.4!

But Stewart being much younger, and would have been much cheaper probably, makes him the preferable choice.

Spilt milk now!

yep. Stewart is running around getting the 3rd tall defender but still averages just .4 contested marks/game this year. (Elton as a comparison averages 1.1. getting manned by the likes of Hurley.)
Stewart is a tall flanker who is 23yo, who has played a couple of decent games for the bombers this year.
last year he played 1 game and had 4 disposals.

If we want to play 3 talls, he would not have been a bad option running around on a flank. if we want to play a tall CHF who we can bomb the ball to he is not the answer.

Spot on nothing more than a poor mans Gunston, unfortunately for us a poor mans Gunston is Wayne Carey compared to Elton

I agree, he'd be cannon fodder in our team IMO. Both the goals he kicked last night were out the back cheapies. IMO he's a bit like Vickery, looks big, but cannot do the things that the talls really should be able to do.

No big loss IMO. He's a similar type to Membrey at the Saints, plays well as a 3rd tall, but he wouldn't add a lot as a number 1 or 2 tall IMO.

Would have got his chance , agreed no superstar but looks to. Be capable. Most would be dissapointed that callum Moore or chol wouldn't have got to his level. By now , I'm sure our Chiefs would have rated his prospects against what we already had

This is the thing. I'm sure our recruiters are yet to be convinced about Todd & co. right about now too.

Yep Stewart went for nothing.
What were our recruiting/list management gurus thinking??
Griffiths injury prone & yet to show much, Elton , not up to it and never was going to be.
Maric , how he is still on our list defies logic.
Thank goodness Astbury, Nank, Jack or Rance haven't missed games or we'd be goners.

Very hard to have faith in those making the decisions re list management at RFC.

Would be a whipping boy if he was at the tigers.

Average player - and thats on his best day.
