KPD depth?

Our overall depth is great but If we have a weakness this is probably it.

Goes without saying Rance is a big loss in spite of the Premiership last season. What does life look like beyond him?

Grimes & Astbury just became near our most indispensable assets.
Balta whilst promising is still very raw. There's a few eggs in this basket. I really hope it works out.
Garthwaite & Miller also very wet behind the ears. Chol? That would be getting desperate.
The options are pretty thin beyond that.

Kind of highlights why Dimma was in no hurry to put Grimesy up for the Big V..

Another Key defender is mandatory, and a junior specialist key forward for when JR8 retires.

Sammy Taylor type will do me, a key back needs to be ready to go straight away for next year (we need to pinch one ideally) , as Dave will be winding up soon, effectively we need two, for long term and insurance for injury. (Balta and Taylor for example).

Ideally we can draft the Key forward and develop them over time under the guidance of Jack and Tom.

Key back is a more pressing a concern right now but another Tall Junior Forward would also be handy whilst we have time to develop them.

Yeah, KPD is our obvious hole looking forward. But that's why we need to belive that Blair has his board of best young KPD at other clubs and we've already had a quick chat with their managers.

I reckon some of us underestimate Balta as our next key defender.

He has every single physical attribute you'd look for if you were seeking to replace a Rance-type player.

The legitimate question is around his decision making and possibly his defensive positioning.

Which is why I'd have him play a lot of games this season, learning the system from the best defensive group in the game.

I'm thrilled to hear it seems his role has been settled.

Even if Balta steps up, who's next? Who is there to cover an injury?

Spot on. KPD is the priority and KPF is next.

If any of Garth, Balta, Miller or Biggy make it. It will relieve the issue somewhat but I have doubts over Garth and Miller

Next draft we need at least two more key position players to round out the list again. It’s no biggie this year u less injuries hit hard. But that is a biggie every year.

The mid season draft can be utilised if someone ends up on the long term injured list.
