Maybe he has gone home for Christmas. Probably done more training than other 1- 4 yearers because of his early exit from hub life.

That sounds like a plausible excuse. The 1-4 year players finish training for Christmas on Friday and maybe he has had an early leave pass for whatever reason.

Done very little training
25 mins of Bicep Curls in the Casino Gym in Perth is hardly elite training ‍♂️

Thats one option.

I reckon the other one is perhaps his training standards haven't been where the club wants them and maybe he was sent home early to have a think about what he wants in life. Ie. come back in a better frame of mind / focus on training. Would fill the gaps between what all sides have been saying about Stacky.

If he hasn't, I'd love for Marlion to have a chat with him about what life on the other side could be.

Also, I was scrolling on the posts that he had back in WA this week, and there isn't 1 comment or like from a Tigers player which suggests that its not an early release for sick relatives etc. A lot of players comment on the other players instas but there was a distinct lack of posts from other players on Syds posts.

Pre-season is to get fit. Dunno where this whole, have to turn up for pre-season already ultra-fit comes from.

The fact they're full-time paid professional sportsmen. If a player has this mindset then they more than likely won't have a long and successful career and increasingly won't have one in the first place.

Sounds like rose colored glasses to me, but each to their own opinion.

Rose colored glasses for some
Bloody great horse blinkers for others
But wait a while and we’ll have the benefit of 20/20 hindsight

So was Stack in Melbourne for training or not?
Looks like he's in WA now and was in Perth early on this week so did he ever actually get to Melbourne to start training?

Trained Monday as I reported.
Trained Tuesday but I did not report, to put it politely it looked like he was under the weather, for a one touch player he could hardly bend down to pick up the ball taking 3 attempts in the most basic of drills. Towards the end of the session all players were together heading towards the bench bar Syd who was by himself head down dribbling a footy looking pretty dejected, Ivvy came up behind him and put an arm around him in a consoling fashion.
Friday no sign of Syd for the hard running session, later Zipps reported that Syd was sent home which I can't confirm or deny.

No I didn't major in body language just reporting what I see and it's not his training track form that concerns me anyway.

You have no clue what l know
The kid has shown he has talent to burn..regardless where he is, it's up to him to recover his form and fitness.
The club is in a very strong position to keep the standards high.
The club would've pissed him off, if they didn't believe in him, but sometimes they need to put their focus into others and therefore the balls in Stacks court.

Thanks, had missed your posts in the Training thread.
Doesn't sound good.

Like many others, I am super keen for Sydney to develop well and to succeed at the top level. I love the club having six indigenous players on the list (plus an indigenous VFL coach), which is apparently more than any other club. I was disappointed that the club delisted Eggmolese-Smith and that he didn't get picked up by another club. We have seen over the years with our club and other clubs that it is a really big deal for indigenous players to have to move to Melbourne from places like Darwin and Perth. They can struggle a lot mentally to adjust to living in the big metropolis of Melbourne. From reading the posts on this thread for the last few days, it appears that Sydney could possibly be having physical issues and/or mental issues and/or family issues OR no significant issues at all. As we know, when Sydney first came to Melbourne, he lived for quite a while with Damien Hardwick and that seemed to work very well. Maybe Hardwick or Xavier Clarke could take him into their respective homes for a few months to get him settled again mentally. Sydney would no doubt be aware that he has to compete against several other good young players for a regular spot in the senior team and that big challenge in itself would require a high level of ongoing commitment to the club. Maybe the club could buddy him up with Shane Edwards and/or Daniel Rioli (as our most experienced indigenous players) to specifically train with him through January and February. As others have said, it would be such a waste of a prodigious football talent if he weren't to become a successful AFL player for the RFC.

Might simply be that the young bloke is simply struggling with the demands and requirements of being a full time professional footballer. There's been plenty before him and there'll be plenty after him have this same problem.
All the talent in the world won't save ya if the little bit of rubbery grey matter between the ears isn't in sync with what you're trying to achieve.

Geez I hope he gets it together otherwise his new squeeze along with his ex will both have a longer footy careers than him.

I can understand the kid getting a bit ahead of himself coming into this season after all the media hype and adoration he received last year, lets be honest he killed it in 2019 took all before him and became a star of the game in quick time.

However thats well and truly long gone now and surely he knows after season 2020 that everything is on the line for him.

He did say he needed to be away from WA to make it, well he's still has the opportunity.....for now.

Yep the game has been robbed of some outstanding and amazing footballers because of the inability to adapt for many of the lads especially the boys from more remote community locales.

I dare imagine the sheer brilliant talents that have never been witnessed.

If there was a ladder of lost talent over the last 25 years.
We would be on top by 2 games

Several wasted football talents for the RFC come to my mind, but in particular Relton Roberts, an indigenous player from a remote community in the NT. He had great pace and skill and for a very brief time he looked like he could go on to become a star. Unfortunately he, apparently, struggled to adapt to life in the big smoke of Melbourne. Sadly, his time to shine was all too brief and before he could really get settled and established at the RFC, he was gone forever and lost to the AFL.
