We called out the online threats against Grimes last year, and that's being dealt with in the courts. This should be no different.
Agree. Most of these places also offer memberships and have security personnel and video taping. If he can be identified he/ they should be prosecuted.

Just got an email from the Superstore with the great high flying Shai... some real high and lowlights in a matter of days.

Hope he can get back quickly.

hahah yeah I saw the subject line from RFC 'celebrate $hai's brilliance',

thinking I was gonna see a framed picture of some fat KKKollingwood supporter with stacks of eyebrow and lip piercings, sitting on bluestone stairs under a neon XXX light, bleeding all over his TN's,

After this, he is a certainty to stay.

Had lunch with an ex AFL player from early 2000’s today and I quote “This happened once a week back in the day, most blokes would wait for training Tuesday and claim it happened in the first drill.” Then went on to outline a all in brawl while on a footy trip in Surfers Paradise.

Sometimes doing the right thing doesn’t pay off.

Yeah should have said his dog bit him, or a golf ball hit him.

Yeh, what happens now is pretty tame. Worked with a 70/80's 200 game AFL player who had some ripping end of season trip stories. The overseas ones often involved the local constabulary at some point.

It's sad that players and their partners can't be left alone when out and about. Put some grog into an immature male and you've got the recipe for trouble.

Rioli not pressing charges was an invitation to the AFL to step in.

Maybe the brazen offender has unsavoury connections?
Or more to the story.

I know these boys are young and like to get out, but when you are a known personality its just asking for trouble going out to clubs these days especially young footballers.

Lots of haters out there who deliberately cause trouble.

These morons can quite easily;y cost an AFL / NRL player their livelihood.

The lads have to realise that these places are trouble waiting to happen and are best avoided during the season.

AFL to investigate....what? The club's done their part so what does the Gestapo want now?

Richmond to be suspended for the 2021 season?

Therein lies the challenge and sacrifice for these young guys. They are elite athletes but their girlfriends usually aren't. Their best mates usually aren't. Their families usually aren't.

Your girlfriend and your mates want to go to a nightclub like any 22 year old kid does, they don't want to have a few drinks around the fire in the backyard, or head home before Cinderella.

So you either miss out on your mates or the only people you socialise with are your work mates. It's an area I really feel for young players in.
Agreed Large Son Of Bull, its unfortunate.

I can’t believe some posters actually think the players should stay home to avoid trouble.
Seriously?
Not very Richmondy

And Rioli's girlfriend is a DJ

BTW, the club has publicly handled this brilliantly. Understanding but not condoning. Supporting but making it clear that it’s not acceptable. A lot of clubs would cave and gave public lashings. Players watch this stuff, support in tough times.

This week further enhances the destination club theory. Big week in more ways than one.

Who
I heard one coach address some first and second year players once, and he said when you think about heading out on the drink or doing something with your mates that isn't good for your footy, ask yourself if it is worth a minimum of 3 million dollars, because that's about the difference in what you'll earn from a two year AFL career and a 10 year one.

I thought that was a good way to illustrate the sacrifice and reward of the system.

Even for Bolton his broken wrist has probably cost him 50 to 100 grand and that's before any impact on the offers he gets next.
Who needs money when you need to live like that?
Your whole young adult life sitting at home on the couch? Stuff that.
I find the narrative that going out with your girl friend and mates not being good for your footy really disturbing. If that’s community expectation, then we’ve really got to take a long hard look at ourselves.
Let me be clear. They did nothing wrong and were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.
And I don’t mean a night club. If being there was wrong, let’s start chastising Daw and the Geelong players that were there and any other person caught in venues around Australia that have a sporting career.
The club is rightly disappointed with the outcome but cannot bar the players from going out?
BTW the whole football club ( including all coaches ) came to my venue mid season in 2019 and had a reasonable crack. No one got injured so it was all ok? Can’t have double standards if something goes wrong with no fault at play.
End of rant
