I would like to know how to post to the forums without it refreshing back to the topics page. For example during a game it is very annoying to have to keep entering the game forum, why I can't I just post and return immediately to the discussion topic in which I have posted??

You can. In your profile click on "look and layout" preferences on the left then select return to topic by default and save the changes.
