Hey folks, need some advice.

I'm an interstater who's doing his yearly pilgrimage to a Tiges game at the G in a couple of weeks. The onus is on me to show my travelling companions a good time. So, can you give me the local knowledge regarding the two or three best Richmond pubs to celebrate a yellow and black victory in?

Cheers!

Tigerblood.

Two main ones Tigerblood:

Swan Hotel (cnr Swan and Church Sts Richmond) - Wayne Campbell's pub.

The Royal Oak (cnr Bridge and Burnley Sts) - Richmond-owned pub.

Happy celebrating!

How far do you want to walk. The nearby ones : The Royal and the Criketers Arms are within easy staggering distance of the G. The Royal is dodgy but the Arms is Ok.

Around the corner are both the Corner Hotel and the Melbourne depot. Cant say much for the Corner but it used to be Heavy Metal Central. The Depot is a Yuppies Pub.

Further up Swan St you'll find around ten other pubs. The Two stand outs are the Swan and the Vaucluse.

Up Bridge road youll also find heaps of pubs with In my opion the standouts being the Royal Oak (RFC Pokies) and the Dover (just a country pub)

Hope this helps

Thanks for those leads. If you see a supporter in an old Richmond beanie with NSW driving licence passed out in front of any of these establishments after the Carlton game, it's probably me.

Cheers.

Tigerblood,

Pregame - Vaucluse for a chicken parma washed down with a few pots. Best parma in Richmond - do try
Wander down to the Cricketers Arms fror a few more pre game pots.

Post - Cricketers Arms is a must for the 20 renditions of tigerland after a win. Depot is alright, good for chasing a bit of skirt later in the night.

Enjoy your trip ;)

It depends on what you are after.... the only reason some say the royal is dodgy is because it has topless barmaids and strippers... some people like that... some don't.
But as Khan said you can't really go wrong in Swan st.

I remember being in some Richmond pub years ago on such a trip and hearing the song played continuously by the barman to the delirious ecstasy of hundreds of supporters. It was awesome, but later I could never remember what pub I was in. Must have been the Cricketers - thanks RR. Jees I'll be disappointed if we don't win and I miss my one shot at beersoaked celebration in the homeland!

I know the cricketers arms, can picture it. Will try to get there after the Carlton game too with my mate and our chicks, if we have a big win am going to need to celebrate. Then we usually go to Crown for the night before getting back to where we are staying at Victoria Hotel early in the morning. Sounds good, my girlfriend will be wearing Carlton gearso i'll drag her along too.

Just a reminder Shawry I dont think you are allowed to wear any club colours into the casino.... unless they have changed the rules.
Bizzarre but true .... well as far as I know anyway.... I was once with someone who was refused entry... but that was a few years ago now.

Thanks for the tip Tigerdog. I most likely would have stopped at the hotel first to get changed into more appropriate going out gear, but you never know. Cant wait only 2 weeks away, should be big. Looking forward to running amock in your city.
