Sandringham: 1-3, 8-10, 10-11, 14-14-98
Coburg: 2-3, 5-6, 7-9, 7-12-54
Goals: Shultz 2, Jackson, Fletcher, Raines, Houlihan,
O'Connor.
Basically, Coburg failed to make any use of
the 3 to 4 goal wind when they had it. Sandy did.
Of the Richmond blokes playing, Shultz is the only one
that I'd look at for a senior game - but he corked his
bum late in the last quarter. The rest - Hilton, Pettifer
etc , did stuff all ... Houlihan did 'stuff', but nothing
effective. Blumfield played a half - but not very well,
but we'll forgive him for that. Pettifer - strangly applied
a couple of realy good tackles, but otherwise was
useless - had a brain explosion in the last quarter
by grabbing a Sandy bloke around the neck and
bringing him to ground when the ball wasn't near
them
Marsh seemed to only play half the game.
Raines and Jackson - hmm, had a go, but nothing
to write home about. Fletcher is just Fletcher.
(Edit a bit later .. forgot to mention Roach, Tuck Draga
and Moore, They seemed to be OK, certainly a lot better
than the substandard others that were out there - I'm
not sure if either played a full game or not, I couldn't
spot them for a while - but they might have been
hidden away up the other end. Kel Moore did well in
the short bits that we saw - we lost interest for a good
deal of the game, Draga did what he could, but I reckon
he's definitely a bit slower than he used to be)
All in all - a woefull game. I think there is some kind of
'Richmond virus' that even the Coburg players have
been infected with. They went wide at times, even
with a strong breeze at their backs. When they did
go direct - well... duh! they got a goal.
Very disapointed. Plus the trains were out - replaced
by buses
