Coburg, Melbourne
Sandringham: 1-3, 8-10, 10-11, 14-14-98
Coburg: 2-3, 5-6, 7-9, 7-12-54

Goals: Shultz 2, Jackson, Fletcher, Raines, Houlihan,
O'Connor.

Basically, Coburg failed to make any use of
the 3 to 4 goal wind when they had it. Sandy did.

Of the Richmond blokes playing, Shultz is the only one
that I'd look at for a senior game - but he corked his
bum late in the last quarter. The rest -  Hilton, Pettifer
etc , did stuff all ... Houlihan did 'stuff', but nothing
effective. Blumfield played a half - but not very well,
but we'll forgive him for that. Pettifer - strangly applied
a couple of realy good tackles, but otherwise was
useless - had a brain explosion in the last quarter
by grabbing a Sandy bloke around the neck and
bringing him to ground when the ball wasn't near
them

Marsh seemed to only play half the game.
Raines and Jackson - hmm, had a go, but nothing
to write home about. Fletcher is just Fletcher.

(Edit a bit later .. forgot to mention Roach, Tuck Draga
and Moore, They seemed to be OK, certainly a lot better
than the substandard others that were out there - I'm
not sure if either played a full game or not, I couldn't
spot them for a while - but they might have been
hidden away up the other end. Kel Moore  did well in
the short bits that we saw - we lost interest for a good
deal of the game, Draga did what he could, but I reckon
he's definitely a bit slower than he used to be)

All in all - a woefull game. I think there is some kind of
'Richmond virus' that even the Coburg players have
been infected with. They went wide at times, even
with a strong breeze at their backs.  When they did
go direct - well... duh! they got a goal.

Very disapointed. Plus the trains were out - replaced
by buses  :(

Not good to hear that none of our boys did very well how bout Roach, how'd he go?

Saw Roach do a couple of good things... Spotter
(10 year old) says he was "OK", that means he wasn't
a stand out - but not as bad as some of the duds.

But when a whole team is playing rubbish football, it
makes it harder to get into it and do good things.

The order for call up to Richmond would have to
be Schulz. The rest - well, if the choice was between
Hilton, Pettifer and Co. or Tuck, Roach and Co. then
the latter is where I'd be looking!

Who played well in the 2's? Who should press for senior selection?

Apparently Gilmour played a good game in the Coburg two's returning from his ankle troubles, so he should be in the Coburg senior team fairly quickly.

All very well another Richmond player going up but how about blooding a few new Coburg Boys. I have been a keen follower of Coburg for a while now, missed the game at sandy mind you, but how about giving Vincent Randello, Daniel Briggs, Jay Cheep, Shannon Downey or Ken Darby a go. They seem to pop up every week in the best. What do people know of these guys? Why aren't they getting a crack?
