Richmond Football Club today announced a new sponsorship deal with childhood playtime device manufacturer Mattel.

The deal means that the senior coaching staff will no longer be using the traditional whiteboard to analyse player matchups. Instead, they will have the access to the Mattel Etch-a-Sketch.

Senior Midfield coach Wayne Brittian said today that the Etch-a-Sketch had several advantages over the whiteboard.

"Yeah nah look what it means is that we can change the whole match up situation very quickly. The trials we ran during the Wizard Cup games where we had Ray Hall playing third man in defence wouldn't have been as effective if not for the Etchy. We wouldn't have been able to react so quickly to Razor getting towelled up. It's a remarkable piece of technology. We've got Hutchy (Assistant Coach Greg Hutchinson) following the mid-field around and tracing where they've been. The only real problem we've got is when Danny gets frustrated and slams and shakes the Etchy. Then confusion comes into play, but there are plenty of calm heads and steady hands who can quickly pull the drawings back together."

Richmond Business Development Manager Lee Iaaccoa said that the deal with Mattel wasn't just restricted to the Etch-a-Sketch.

"Look, it's a great tool and the footy department loves it. But there are so many avenues to explore. We're hopeful that the players will be getting to play with the new Hot Wheels cars. David Rodan might even be able to drive one around. And we all know that the Kellaway boys are Scrabble nuts, so they're looking forward to getting their hands on the special Richmond FC edition of the game. The AFL are going to licence it, so that means that the letters, 'c', 'n', 't' and'u have been removed. Otherwise it's exactly the same."

The Richmond Board are understood to be leaking the deal to the Media at time of going to press.

The spin doctors are very keen to get "Twister" down to Punt Road.

They think it will improve co-ordination and will certainly help the players bond with each other.

Apparently the Tigers are all off to Hume City Council's storage facility (sight of that funny looking Federation Arch that grace(?) Swanston Street Bridge a couple of years ago) on the weekend for the worlds biggest ever game of Kerplunk.
